Very helpful - I was able to sort out the problem between NINA and CPWI settings that caused meridian flip issues.

I realize this video is 3 years old, and you've probably long stopped reading comments here. However, I can't wait to try this during the day today. My meridian flip in NINA seemed to work fine last night...but when it began to plate solve the target for framing, then it went crazy and slewed the wrong way right into the tripod! I powered everything down and tried again. Same result. It was as if the scope didn't know which side of the mount it was now on.

That happened to me when I had one of the stepper motors wires reversed. Probably not the same issue but you never know

I'm new to this hobby and your video was very helpful in helping me test out Meridian Flip with NINA and my C8 SCT and my Celestron AVX. I had an issue a few nights ago where the flip occurred and it looked like the USB cable from the miniPC to the AVX hand controller came out the bottom of the hand controller. The cable snagged on something I suppose. Trying to salvage my image session the mount slewed to much and the camera (ASI071MC Pro) contacts the tripod leg but luckily everything seems OK. Using your video I have run a couple of simulations to verify even at high altitudes the Meridian Flip works with my settings in NINA and my cables now don't snag. Hope you find the time to start updating this channel. Thanks.

I just had to return to this video again because my different scope mounted mini pc failed to flip. Of course I realized that I had failed to set something or more than one something. I had neglected to reset the mount limits to a bit more than 90 degrees. Once I got those established (another video because I forgot how), the mount flipped smoothly. Of course it was unable to plate solve after the flip because it is daytime. It was unable to re-center the target. I had only basically pointed the mount towards Polaris and hadn't even done a real polar alignment. Hopefully in the dark it will be able to find everything ok. Then it can in theory reslew and recenter after the flip. But at least I know now it's flipping and that's the beauty of this daytime test.

Im fairly new to NINA, so I just had exactly this type of problem 2 nights in a row. Half of the people who responded to my pleas for help in understanding it said it must be a cable snag. My cables dangle like yours, and I use the same, or similar EQ6-R Pro. I didn't find a cable snag but I had a tight power cable to the auto-focus cube (just fixed it with an extender). The other half of the people think it's a problem with EQMOD working with NINA. This now seems quite probable to me. Tomorrow I am going to try and do exactly what you did. At 2am, it was very hard for me to think! By the time I went outside and looked at the rig, it was fully parallel to the ground but had not flipped. I had "Meridian Flip" ON in the sequencing page, but that's all I had set. Thanks for this video and I will let you know if I get this problem fixed. Your video seems the closest I have found to being about my problems. Well I tried this unsuccessfully this morning. I found that my scope slewed to the target and it looked like a good one. The weights were parallel to the ground on the east side. But the sequence refused to start. The camera needs to be both plugged in and cooled. Then it said I didn't have a file specified. Really? Ok, I put a USB stick in. Sequence still wouldn't start. So I discontinued for today. Also, on the NINA meridian flip page, there is no longer a choice for "engage". I guess Meridian Flip stays engaged.

Hi Paul, the main thing that I've found that causes meridian flip errors is that your home coords don't match what's in EQMOD and NINA. Check that just to be sure, hope that helps some.

Hey Joe, thanks for the vid. Quick question for you, it looks like you are running the FLT132 on the EQ6-r, am I right? I'm asking because I am tempted to buy it but wasnt so sure about the payload weight for AP. Let me know!!!
@JoesAstrophoto
@JoesAstrophoto Жыл бұрын
Hi t, unfortunately it’s only a Z81, but technically the EQ6 should be able to handle the weight of the flt132. With all the other gear attached, I’m guessing you’ll be around 26 - 28lbs. If you’re pretty confident in your guiding abilities you could pull off 5 - 10 minute subs. If you’re newer to the hobby, you may struggle a bit with that much weight on the EQ6. Hope that helps.

Question, will the guiding and imaging automatically resume after the flip ?
@JoesAstrophoto
@JoesAstrophoto Жыл бұрын
Hi Raymond, it absolutely should. Additionally, if you have an SCT style scope, you’ll most likely want to do a refocus before resuming as the mirror has a tendency to ever so slightly shift. If you have a refractor, then you don’t have to worry.

that notworking for me , same mount, same programs and setup ,i dont see 6 mins waiting time
@JoesAstrophoto
@JoesAstrophoto 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, it may be a different waiting time for you based on what numbers you use in the settings and which target you are choosing. If you’re not seeing the flip message at all then you have a settings wrong either in EQMOD or NINA. Out of curiosity, after the target passes the meridian is the mount still tracking past it?

Hey Brian, check in EQMOD and make sure that "Allow Auto Meridian Flip" is NOT checked, and then double check that your lat and long are identical to NINA's. Also make sure that "SideOfPier" says "Pointing (ASCOM)". In NINA, try changing your max minutes to match your after meridian, so 3 minutes. Once you get everything working, I'd change that to at least 5 minutes.Ensure that "Use telescope side of pier is "OFF". Recenter after flip is "ON", pause before flip 1min. Let me know if that helps or anything changes.
