Sometimes a creative process can be surprising. When I started quilting this small project, I had ideas for two, maybe three designs. I ended up with seven and one of them is a mystery. I will show you how to use a wavy line and arches to create incredible texture. No rulers required. Just passion for quilting.

Ohhh, I will love to hear how it went and if it helped you to relax. I hope it will. I was actually very tired when I started the video and I was sure I can create maybe three designs. And then the inspiration happened and I was relaxed. It is a little thing but it helps. So treat yourself to a bit of quilting fun! ❤❤❤

@@quiltingnerd Thank you for your encouragement... well, I managed to do swirls , pebbles, your "flower swirls", some feathers and quite a few other things. I had pieced strips together, some wider than others, so it was easy to work "within a boundary" like you suggest 🥰🤗 my stitches are quite jerky at times 🤦🏻‍♀️ but on the whole, I don't think it was too bad!
@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 3 ай бұрын
@@cinziabeley7059 Of course your stiches are a bit jerky.... you are at the beginning. You just listed the whole list of the most important patterns , said they looked good .. I am proud to read such comment. You try something new, you utilize and experiment on your own. You Rock!!!! I promise, the stiches will become beutifly behaving with time. Routine will help. And I think you . Do not focus on temporary imperfections.... They will go away.

What Marty said. I understand you, you are in a place where your expectations are not matching your skills yet. My first quilts were....hm... brave hm but with time and stuburness I got better. It is for you and at the beginning we take pleasure in the fact we try to learn something new and by that we are already braver and better than so many others that never try. We do not have to be masters. It is good to do something becasue it is fun and relaxing and creative. There is a learning curve but I have seen many women like you that said they are afraid of traying but changed their mind after I bullied them...❤❤❤

This is so beautiful, Gosia. The final effect is really nice. I especially love the one you did at 26:10~ You are inspiring so many to at least try free motion. There is a learning curve to it, to be sure, but it's fun as long as the machine doesn't have a breakdown! I can't sell that Juki no matter what I do and it's a real problem because now, I've had an idea for a small, but dramatic bed quilt. Oh boy, I knew this would happen, LOL. I don't want to buy a new machine until this one is not occupying space here. Anyway, there is a striking block I made once as a 15" square table topper called God's Eye and I've always wanted to make one again. I thought that it would be great as the center of a medallion, my favorite way to design a quilt, from the center outward. So, I can do try it on this machine and see how it goes. Still deciding. Blessings, sweet friend. ~Cynthia

That sounds lovely.... I do not know the block but I will have to look for it. I am intriguied. The designs were fun. I was actually so tired I was sure that I will not manage to produce worthy material. And then the agic happened. One design turned into three and then more. I was serious when I said that I am not sure how I quilted one of them... I will have to watch the video... with your machine....maybe it should stay or the buyer is not there yet. Maybe it should be used for simple sewing and a better machine would be used for quilting. I knwo they are expensive but they are also an investment in your health. Peoaple spend more money than that for silly things. And we are talking about a tool to create beautiful things. I know that you are incredibly responsible person and probably you always put you last. I am sure there will be a way. I will keep my fingers crossed. ❤❤❤

@@quiltingnerd You are so right, the craziness folks spend their money on boggles the mind. Yes, I've learned over my life to never make snap decisions, to look for cost effective ways to get and do what I want. I may try to do a fairly small quilt on this Juki since it's currently working okay. I guess we'll see how that goes! Thanks, my dear. You always, always inspire me! ❤

Lovely as always! I love your channel! More questions for you 🙂 Do you use a stich regulator? What thread vendor and weight are you using? Do you use a different threat weight in the bobbin? Do you use a top stitching needle?
@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 3 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for the lovely feedback! I happy you like my content. I will try to answer your questions: No I do not use stcih regulator as it adjusts the speed of the machine and it drives me crazy. I prefer to be relaxed than perfect. I use different wendors. Mostly cotton, 50 and 40 wt threads, sometimes polyester. Aurifil, wonderfill, omni, brothers threads, sometimes no-name. The bobin thread is sometimes thinner, especially with polyester thread. With cotton I try to use the same weight. It depends a lot on the project and colors I selected. What is top stiching needle?
@user-if4qz3mk3p
@user-if4qz3mk3p 3 ай бұрын
@@quiltingnerd A topstitching needle is used for machine embroidery and has a bigger eye so there is less stress on the thread and causes less breakage (at least in my experience albeit a bit limited). Schmetz and Superior have these in multiple sizes. My skill level is nowhere near yours, but since I switch back and forth a lot in my sewing (piecing and quilting) I just generally use topstitching needles. Thank you for always answering back !

@@user-if4qz3mk3p Sure, This communit is still smalla enough that I manage. I am using quilting needles from Organ, with titanium coating. The embroidery needles were not for me. But I tend to use the 90 size. The smaller ones were breaking some of the threads a lot.

Thank you as always for another beautiful demonstration. Please, if I may ask you a question. I sew on my Janome 9450 and have like you advised as good practice, made loads of doodles on paper. I set up all ready to go and I just can't control my speed movement to have consistant stitches? Any advice I would greatly appreciate. Thank you. Teresa❤

@quiltingnerd 3 ай бұрын
Hi there. Thank you for your feedback and question. It is not an easy one and difficult to answer for me when I have never seen you stitch. If you start as a quilter please do not expect even stiches. This comes with control and practice and belive me my stiches are not perfectly equal either. Your Janome has a speed regulation. Try to limit the speed till you will find your sweet spot, Speed of the machine is only part of the equation. the other one is related to how fast or how fluid is your movement. Try first only back and forth movement and pay attention to your hands. How you place them on the sandwich, which hand controls the movement. Nice and steady is the key. I don't know if I helped you, but I will try to make a video concentrating only on that issue.
