The Seven Network is a major Australian commercial free-to-air television network that launched on 4 November 1956. It is owned by Seven West Media Limited and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network is headquartered in Sydney. It is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach, and is also the highest-rated television network and primary channel in Australia, ahead of the Nine Network, Network 10, ABC TV, and SBS. The Seven Network is the broadcaster of popular programs, including Better Homes & Gardens, Home and Away, and The Chase Australia.

It's very interesting to see how 7 and NBC both in the early days of having color for their programs promoted it quite a bit as NBC used the peacock to promote color on their logo while 7 used it for promoting their name for the color spectrum that includes Indigo. It's also quite unique in a sense that NBC allowed 7 to use their slogans and jingles back in 1980's and 1990's.

Yeah I agree with you. Nine Network also used the slogans from ABC back then too.

Think it was a bit more common when the world was "bigger" (TV brands seem to keep themselves to themselves now it's easier to see them internationally). Sky in the UK used some of the same graphics/slogans too. Radio stations around the world still use the same jingles as other markets.

Awesome ident history of Seven Network, Jonty! Out of all the Australian TV networks, Seven Network has some of the most colourful idents, just like the NBC idents from the United States and the idents from the Brazilian networks like TV Globo and Brazilian Television System (SBT). Some of my favourite idents from Seven Network would be at 5:09, 8:37, 9:57 and 11:08, because the animation in them is amazing, and the ATN-7 ident because the cartoon animation in it is pretty good, along with the artistic concept. However, I'm seeing that Channel 7 just got really inspired by NBC with these idents, especially the "Let's All Be There!" ident. But anyway, great ident history as always!

Thanks, Man! I do agree with you. Seven Network has some of the most colorful idents indeed. I do like those idents you picked. They do have amazing CGI for its decade. Some of it still sort of holds up even today. The ATN-7 ident is pretty good. Looks like a cartoon from Hanna Barbera. And yes, Seven Network did get inspired by NBC, just like how Nine Network was inspired by ABC. Stay tuned for my logo history on SBS!

Seven were mad to let go of the colour ring logo. It still looks instantly recognisable today.

For the people that are saying "You forgot this!" and "You forgot that!" I'd like to ask you to stop doing that. It's not very nice. I worked really hard on this logo history. Thank you for understanding. Just thought I'd get it off my chest. Not trying to be mean also.

Notice that the 1975 ident uses the American spelling of "color" instead of the British spelling of "colour". The ident is also really long, lasting 37 seconds.

I do find Channel 7 to be the second-best Australian TV channel besides ABC and the variety of its logo does look good and the program choices are enjoyable to watch and look at

Gawd, Seven got more shameless with selling their idents than nine did. Werent even trying with the nespresso one. I do love how they stole "The one" from nine. Big mistake on them for abandoning that imagery, even if they weren't "The one" like it used to mean.

First off, the little tune in your intro was used in the 80's by the Global Television Network here in Canada. I wonder where you got it. Also, I must say that I was also shocked that this Australian network used some of the same slogans as NBC in the U.S. "Be there" and "Let's all be there" seemed to last a while.

Btw for curious ears! Music used for 1969 to 1975 indents is from the overture of a hit musical (Promises, Promises, Promises) Secondly people who don't do their homework properly tend to mock the Australian TV channels using or copying the U.S major networks promo materials or their station identifications. In fact these were customise accordingly because these were not done by in-house graphic designers. But outsourced from different graphic designing companies. Which was indeed a clever move from the Aussie to save time and money! A fan and an admirer from Pakistan. 🙂

the second logo (1975) reminds me of the demo reels made by dolphin productions from 1974, and the surreal music sounds like some logos made by computer animation industries.

Honestly, Seven should bring back their logo they used from 1975 - 1989. Also, where did you get such a high quality version of the ID at 8:04? Every single upload of it that I've seen was pretty darn pixelated.
