I like the part right after that more but yes, that part's really well done too. ^___^ I like when he talks like an auctioneer/con man/used car salesman all at the same time. Only *some* people can make you feel like you are being *positively* influenced rather than *negatively* influenced when they do that. He's one of them. 😁 He's good at this. 😀

Just realized something interesting. Okay. A really good actor *is* a con man/woman who makes you feel good. Makes you forget your troubles and worries and so on and suchlike while you watch them/listen to them. Go Harold Hill. We need the Harold Hills of this world. ^____^

As a high school teen, I got to be one of the ‘76’ trombone players that marched out at the end of this musical…with the San Antonio symphony orchestra behind me. I was so nervous, but 30 years later I still remember the slide positions! 🤣 I’m not into musicals if I’m honest, but man this guy has the voice. Epic performance.

Well, quite a bit less volume and resonance than Robert Preston.
@KittyStarlight Жыл бұрын
@@gsjackson34 Well, all right, but still, for a concert this is really pretty good. This isn't the movie, so it doesn't have Robert Preston (I know, darn it, but really who they *do* have is actually pretty good). They did not forget to *mention* Robert Preston at the end. That was nice of them. ^___^ Made famous by Robert Preston. Hear, hear. ^____^

Born and raised in the real River City (Mason City, Iowa). After I caught the Music Directors Band at the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade doing 76 Trombones, I started searching and was surprised to see how far and wide that song has gone. When the movie came out in 1962, the red carpet "Hollywood Premiere" was held in Mason City, with Robert Preston, Shirley Jones, even Ron Howard (he played the kid) came to town, went to the parade, etc.

Meredith Wilson would be delighted. This will never grow old.

Yes Charles -- and thank God Willson had the balls to stand up to Warner Bros. brass back in 1961 and give them this ultimatum, according to Shirley Jones who played "Marian Paroo" in the movie: "You will NOT make my movie unless you use Robert Preston in the title role!" ;-)

Given 76 Trombones is the title, I genuinely couldn't hear much of the trombone section. But, cracking performance regardless.

One thing would make this video significantly better. If the words would just be on the screen *while* he is singing them. I mean the *same* words at the same time. We seem to be just a tad bit out of sync somehow. To the extent that if you want to sing along you are going to have to play the video at least once or twice first. Unless of course you are really really splendid at memorizing or your class just recently did this or something. Or you have performed in the actual play itself within the last couple of years. In any of those cases you will likely *already have* all of the words in your head. If you don't then it's a bit inconvenient. Otherwise very nice video. 😁😀😁
