When he said "Lets burn this whole place to the ground" I involuntarily stood up and clapped. Fuck I love this show.

Did you notice Ms. Casey is never touched throughout the show? Mark has to request to shake Cobel's hand (and Helly can request a hug from Ms. Casey). Dylan wants a hug from Ms. Casey. Mark and Ms. Casey go out of their way to avoid touching each other when passing each other in the breakroom's corridor. Also, when Mark and Helly are walking through the dark hallway, when they walk, the hallway lights light up only for Helly and not Mark (who was walking behind her for a bit). When Ms. Casey found them, the lights weren't lighting up for her until she was in the vicinity of Helly.

I'm desperate to find out what the lighting symbolises with regard to mark in this show, because of that line where Cobel (in disguise) says "still waiting for that third light to come on, Mark?" or something similar to that

Season 1 is one of the best episodes of absolutely perfect ensemble work. We truly know and love and care about the journeys of each of the 4 refiners by the end. Is it weird that the announcement of all the new cast members for S2 makes me a little nervous? I don’t want the severed floor to get too crowded 😂

100% my favourite character. Nice to see a gay romance that doesn't feel tacked on or isn't the whole focus of the media, either.

Irving is Jesus?? You blew my mind! 🤯 That quote likening the innies to kindergarteners is on point, the first seven years of a child’s life are just second nature to those around them, but everyone is born with curiosity. The innies follow rules and imitate those around them, but their innate curiosity and personality trains come from that subconscious childlike mind

Wow! This is an amazing synthesis. The innies have some key emotional outbursts, and now it all makes sense. Stripped of their context, being helpless and vulnerable, the only thing that they can fall back on is their basic primal instincts. Their temper tantrums are totally natural when they are faced with so many confusing and threatening situations out of their control. Pretty ironic, considering Lumon's philosophy about taming the tempers ;)

So true. I'm starting to think the Kier we've been hearing about wouldn't even approve of what has become of his grand vision lol. Seems like Lumon is only concerned with the commodity angle rather than a misguided attempt at bettering humankind, and based on what we've seen in MDR, their ability to tamp down natural, human inclinations still needs a lot of work.

i watched severance last week all in one day and thank god there were all your videos to save me from the withdrawal!!! i really like your style and approach to these! as well as your voice hehe it's been a while since i watched a show as captivating and well executed. honestly i think the only time i was as invested in something and building theories and trying to decode stuff is when i watched twin peaks. severance got the same vibe in terms of "ughhh i know this means something! i know they are telling me something with this but WHAT" for me at least i also had no idea who john turturro was up until i watched this, seems like a man whose filmography is worth checking out. will definitely follow up on your recommendations. thanks! can't wait for new videos and theories(and season two), keep it up!

Long time viewer, first time commentor. Love your stuff. However this is the first time I've found myself quibbling with one of your videos. The fact that you recommended a bunch of Christopher Walken's work and didn't include his role in the Fatboy Slim (ft Bootsy Collins) Weapon of Choice music video is a downright travesty. His dancing was immaculate. Keep up the great work man! Best tinfoil channel on KZfaq by far!

Irving initially struck me as a total narc trope in the beginning, an annoying stickler I could definitely do without. But as the show progresses, he evolves into this badass who is totally willing to burn Lumon to the ground for love, and that was an unexpected turn in my mind for this character. I thought Irving might be a holdout or even an informant for MDR's plan to expose Lumon, but he turned that on its head.

Pety says to Mark "i'm your best friend. You're my very good friend" for a while i suspected he had a stronger friendhsip with Irving, because on the outside they both dig into Lumen and have the most info about it. Yet innie Irving not only he is a devotee, but he doesn't seem affected by Petey being gone. Also, i found it strange how Petey went to Mark, and not Irving, who had most information outsied about Lumen. I am wondering who is Petey's best friend tho....also, out of all character we know the least about Irving's motivation of entering Lumen...and is extremly strange to me how their innies seem to he the complet opposite of their outies...i put this on the base that their inneis are their most inner desire and true self they vurry in their subconcious, like for eg Helly's innie fighting so har to bring the system down from the begining, even tho she is the only be who is about to inherit the empire..could be a true theory, outie Helly didn't seem at all enthusiastic when Milchicik talked about Kier
