Thursday 14th - Sunday 16th of September saw the Severn Valley Railway hold their annual steam gala with a whopping nine locomotives in operation, demonstration freight trains and the reintroduction of overnight running. The event was scheduled as the last big event at the SVR this year while also being one of the last chances to see Bulleid West Country class 21C127 Taw Valley and the LMS Ivatt 4mt Flying Pig before being withdrawn from service next year for overhaul. The loco roster consisted of five resident locos running alongside four guest locomotives on a very intensive 4-day timetable that also included demonstration freight trains mostly hauled by resident GWR 57xx 7714 and guest Bagnall 401 Vulcan.
One of the biggest features of the gala was the reintroduction of overnight running, which had come to an end a few years ago due to the pandemic.
