Thank you Ron for taking me back here again. I recently picked up a copy of a book about the history of this line in a second hand bookshop. It was written by Sir Gerald Nabarro who was both the MP for Kidderminster (and latterly South Worcestershire) and President of the SVR. He was passionate about its restoration. Thank you for pointing out many details that I missed. With Sabrina nearby it makes for a very pretty area. I always love how the shape of the valley funnels the sounds of the trains. A delightful study of my favourite SVR station. Many a happy day spent there on gala days. The footpath between here and Highley is a wonderful walk with the river on the left and railway the right.

Hi Ron, as ever a really enjoyable video. The "Spencer Mineral Waters Bromsgrove" sign on the side of the building took me back to my youth 70 years ago. I lived near Bromsgrove and we got a weekly delivery of two bottles of their pop. It was always lemonade and orangeade . Non of this new fangled cola then! I suspect the sign came from somewhere else as Bromsgrove to Hampton Loade would have been a torturous journey. Seeing the exchange of tablets made me wonder what the signalmans life must have been like during a Salopian winter of yesteryear. Arms held high and rain running down the sleeves. But they were tough then just like their their buildings and trains. Please keep these memory maker videos coming. Regards Mo Johnson

Morning Ron, what a wonderful station and you can see the amount of effort put in to make it that way. I shall have to do the same. But looking down the wobbly tracks I see their track laying isn't any better than mine!

More happy memories Ron. What a gem Hampton Loade is. And you didn’t have to resist the sales coaches being closed. It was nice to see the coach from Barry Railways and still undergoing work. That has been there many years and gradually restored. Although railways were built for freight, the GWR really looked after their passengers too (not customers) having lit fires in the lovely waiting rooms instead of bus shelters with strange metal planks you are meant to perch on that we see so often now. I don’t know if you have tried out the new Worcester Parkway station but on the London platform there was no shelter at all and it’s quite high above the rest of the station. Not very pleasant on a wet windy day and there was no coffee shop but very posh loos. I wonder what anyone else thinks of it. Luckily I tried it on a nice warm day. Thank you 🌻

Lovely Ron, you are more than welcome to come on a tunnel visit one day if you fancy it, i test lights for some of the big companies so I can light these place up nicely.

Good morning Ron and thank you for today's video. Hampton Loade is my favourite station on the SVR. The station itself is absolutely charming and couldn't be more representative of a country station back in the day. Even having the original entrance maintained as it would have been and other "outside" attention to detail enhances it even more. Regarding heritage railways in general, there is one aspect that I rarely see addressed, and that is the cosmetic condition of the locomotive and rolling stock. On heritage railways they are always presented in immaculate condition with gleaming paint and polished brasswork etc. Now, when I grew up in the steam era, unless you saw a locomotive that had just been outshopped from the works, they were generally grimy and showed, authentically, the effects of the hard working life that they led. So my question is, should we see at least one locomotive in that condition on our heritage railways to give a complete picture of how they used to be? I am just referring to the cosmetic condition here of course; the locomotive would be maintained to the high standard of performance and safety as it is now. In the model railway world where modellers produce exhibition layouts, there are quite often locomotives that are painted to represent an ageing engine in poor cosmetic condition to give that sense of authenticity: I would be interested to here Simon The Hairy Golfer's views on that one. I have raised this question with some of my colleagues on the Pontypool & Blaenavon Heritage Railway where I volunteer. There are mixed feelings but certainly some sympathy with my thoughts on this. So, what do other members of the PW family think? I would be very interested to hear your comments. Would it deter visitors, the lifeblood of the railway, who want to see immaculate engines for example? Could the same thoughts be applied to the quality of the stations which were also far from immaculate at times? Hi Ron. Sorry to be late watching this one, but worth waiting for. The collection of enamel signs, along with the stack of milk churns waiting for collection. Just as it used to be, back in the day. Quite a stretch for the signalman to exchange the tokens . I remember the hustle and bustle with the train at the platforms then the absolute peace before the next one arrives. A country station captured perfectly.

Hi Ron. "More than a train journey"...I'll say, it looks like you had a perfect day for it. "One of them, whatever that is." What IS that niche for Ron? We've been having lots of rain here, which I don't mind since I don't have to pay to water the garden. OVM is not too pleased since even thunderless rain holds the possibility of thunder, so appropriate cover is taken. Add to the the Canada Day fireworks (which despite by-laws seem to leak over several days on either side) and I have my hands full with her. I'm not sure where I went wrong Ron, honestly. Thanks very much for a very nice day out. Having caught up on your videos, I think I'll entertain myself by streaming "The Railway Children". Have a good week Ron.

Mornin' Ron, what a great series this is, really enjoying watching. I liked the photo fade at the start, really well executed!! Lots and lots of interesting details to be seen. The Barry Railway carraige for example or the Royal Scott head board (or is it a tail board?) I don't have a photo of the Royal Scot on my shelf ..... its the real thing ............ well ok its the Hornby O Gauge versión anyway!! We have another cold front coming through so the temperatures have plunged today, if they stay that way then I might be able to get out over the weekend if not the sun is just too hot. On my last walk last weekend i surprised a family of mountain goats who looked at me very suspiciously and well they might I'm not sure I should have been where i was but in my defence I was simply following in the steps of a hiking guide book, nothing dangerous honest Ron!! Anyway have a great weekend .... I hope the weeds havent come back with avengance. Lets hope we hear from Trev. All the best

Do you think you could do a severn bridge one (lydney side) I’ve been to and the tunnel is open and the station (minus buildings and signal box) is still there although a bit abandoned
