Would speak more on using knit fabric when a pattern called for woven? Are there any absolute dos or don’ts.

it depends on the project and one's skill, it's always safe to simply follow the fabric recommendation from the pattern, however this skirt pattern is a simple one and the knit fabric that I use in this project is pretty easy to work with thus I managed to pull it off.
