Wow! I've been quilting since 1976, bicentennial. I just sort of winged it, there were no classes there were no quilt shops! And the part I have always hated was binding. My first quilt I tried doing the binding my stitching in the ditch from the front and it was awful. Your method is terrific and I'm going to try it I have two quilts waiting to be bound and you may have just changed my attitude completely. Thank you!

I love the idea of using glue to tack down the back… I just finished a lap quilt for my niece, and I wish I’d seen this beforehand - I have areas that are 1/8” and areas that are 1/16”, so it’s rather uneven looking on the back. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Meh. Live and learn! And glad I know this for the future!

I love your method with the glue on the binding and never thought of that one thing that I do is I take an iron The Binding over from the front first so that there is a good crease that encourages The Binding to roll over to the back more easily.

This is my preferred method as well. I use 2.25” binding strips and 1/4” seam. (I’ve never found the need for the glue step - I do press the seam open after attaching the binding to the front. I can usually wrap the binding back and sew with no clips).

@danielploszkiewicz1058

Maybe the glue makes it easier to keep the binding straight? The glue method might make it easier when doing larger quilts. Would ease up some of the weight from all those wonder clips. Just my thoughts! ☺️
