Quarantine 2020 brought me here

I know that this video is old, but my grandmother has this sewing machine and when she passed away they let me have it. I’ve had it for almost 17 years now and never knew how to so never knew how to thread it. Thank you so much for this video

I make Rosaries for my Marine Moms and a friend gave me a sewing machine just like yours. I can now use it!!!! I was buying burlap bags and also glueing them, but now I know how to do them all because of your tutorial. You are the best!!!!! OOH RAH

Finally, after forever and a day trying to wind the bobbin, reading the manual, searching everywhere, rage-quitting, then picking it up again I've succeeded thanks to you. Not only that, but your machine looks almost identical to mine! I have a Brother VX1005 and I couldn't find a tutorial specific to that model. Thank you so much again!

I'm a guy and I found an old Singer sewing machine on the side of the road, too good for landfill so I took it home. It was like new but I gave it a good oil and clean anyway. Great to be able to sew up ripped clothing etc and save money at the same time. Perhaps my life has reached a new level of boring but sewing stuff seems kinda fun!

I just got a new sewing machine. My old Singer is from 1976, so things are different! The instruction manual is almost useless. So, THANK YOU!!!! Now I have a bobbin threaded! Yay! (I took the horizontal and vertical to mean the thread placement, not the spool.)

I have had my machine for a long time but never used it because I was clueless about how to do this, and the instructions are horrible. Thank you, now I can start a project I am really exited about :-)

Oh my god feeling nostalgic here . Its the same kind of machine I learnt sewing on, for the first time . Summer vacation at grandma's . Never touched another machine again , now is the time to start doing what i loved so much as a girl. What a coincidence 1st video i play has the similar kind i used about 20 years ago. Heyyy i need a lot of help so my grandma passed away a few weeks ago 😭😔 and before she was sick and she told please take the sewing machine after i pass away and now i took it it's a singer 263 i really want to sew and make her proud but i dont have any idea and i came here to see the tutorial thank you so much❤❤

My wife and I use to sew about 27 years ago but, we forgot how to thread our Singer Sewing Machine. Now, I can finishi something that I need for my Computer Room and, his Computer Room. Thank you so much young lady.

Thank you so much! I received a vintage JCPenny machine from my mother, who received it from her mother, and I had almost no clue how to set it up. It's very different from the modern machines we have today. Your video was very helpful.

Oh, and to add on, you have to make sure the bobbin is facing the right direction when you thread the lower thread or it won't thread properly. The thread should be going counter clockwise when you put the bobbin in the holder and it should be relatively easy to slide it into the slot.

I just bought a 1950's trident sewing machine and have no idea what i'm doing but for 20 bucks its cheap to learn on, just buy a cheap one william and that way when your a pro you can get a good one. video's like this help loads, and yes, ignore the potty mouths. thanks for posting

Thanks! I found an old sewing machine from a dumpster and got it working with these instructions. It's different model than your's, but the instructions still worked.

The online manuel found on the Singer site was so shotty I could barely make out the diagrams for details. Hence, I cant tell you how awesome it was to come across your video today ! FINALLY the exact older machine I have (the 4525).. yes they say many machines are similar... yet through trial and error with other videos featuring other machines there still wasn't the info I needed. Thanks, that was helpful. I just inherited a Singer Melody 40, it looks very similar. I have the instruction manual, but it was far easier setting the machine up by following the video. After watching, I sewed my very first project, attaching quick release buckle fastenings to webbing straps, to tie a saddlebag to a motorcycle seat.

Just bought a singer Merritt 5405 and mine is a bit different but this video definitely helped a lot!

Just FYI, you don't have to thread the eye of the metal piece near the Singer logo. There is a slot in the piece. If you put the thread over it and give it some slack, it will slip right into that slot and into the eye.

Found my 4552 MERRITT (21 Stitches ) on the Street 2 weeks ago ! Thread guides broken ! A Master Tailor friend showed me how to CLEAN & OIL ! But thread underneath Fabric all TANGLED UP when SEW !

Your pretty good at showing how to do this. Why only 1 video ? I hope it's not because of some of these people with fungal mouth. Just don't pay them no attention. Some of us out here are a trying to learn how to do this. I am trying to research as much as I can before I go buy a sewing machine. Hope to see more video's.

I need an instruction manual for a vintage Singer model 8606 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'd much rather print it than have a pdf if you can help me out. I'm using a Singer 4830c, just a bit different from the machine in the video. I was not able to get the bobbin thread to pop through the needle area using the manual crank. Instead I pressed the foot pedal slowly and it did pop up through the spot under the needle.

Im a boy and found a 30 yr old sewing machine in trash,....its a sonata by joann model 540 joann fabrics apparently it was is nice condition...i took it home and when i powered on the head would not move up and down all the time....i discovered issue wascat one of the pivot points inside the unit so i oiled it and now it seems to work".......i figured ...ok.....now lets sew....lol how wrong i was....i have no idea how to do it....will review this nice video and see if im able to sew....thank you

I have been sewing for quite a while. I picked your video because of the style Singer you had. I bought an older Singer at a thrift shop, mainly because it was heavier and I might be able to do heavier materials. The problem is there was no manual and I don't have any model name other than electronic control. The front of your machine is very much like it and I wondered what it is called. The manual for yours would probably explain some things I need to understand. I can't get the tension right, no matter what I try. Could you help me with the model of your machine. The video was very good.
