When I first bought my caravan, I felt the sofa fabric was the best I could get in a caravan in my budget. But after living in the caravan for a year and updating my curtains, the fabric no longer felt right.
I decided to go a simple clean grey where I could swap the cushions to completely change the look of the space.

Love your video’s & the cushions look great, I’ve gotta do my folding caravan cushions but haven’t got a clue on making new covers, I need to add about an inch of new foam to the top & underneath to make them more comfy to sleep on, I don’t think it would be to difficult as it’s just a double mattress size cut into four strips to make two long seats🤯

A nice project on a wet day. Nice work and I think you can just cut the button threads. Save the buttons and get new ones, then you can add your own fabric to them. You can get them from spotlight, etc. To be honest it looks better without the buttons anyway. Is it uncomfortable to sleep on them. Love your channel and your videos.

It was the perfect distraction on a wet day. I'll have a hunt around on my next Spotlight visit out of curiosity! Glad to hear it looks better without! Sleeping on them - visitors have had mixed responses. Apparently it's VERY firm, haha.

Hi, I have been trying to comment but not sure how, hope this works. You are doing an awsome job all round, well done. Its easier in Australia with regards grey water, we dont waste it and try to water any trees or plants we are near, we use long waste hoses for this. If you have not been informed yet regarding your water hose, the normal garden hoses are quite toxic and make the water taste awfull, we use food grade hoses , they are light blue on the outside and have a clear inner. You may have to flush your water tanks a few times to get the taste out,just fill em up with the new hose and drain them out. Bought from Bunnings. I have found a timber sleeper also from bunnings hardware shop cut up into square blocks are handy for all jacking and jockey wheel support jobs when the ground is soft. I drive my van up onto them too to level out sometimes. I find 2 batteries are best combined with solar, plenty of power. Cheers and all the best, Ian. Brisbane Australia.
@TravellingK
@TravellingK 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, thank you for comment! Yeah, I've heard Australia is more relaxed about the grey water. I only recently learnt that the normal hose was toxic... thinking back to all those childhood times I drank from it - whoops. Definitely need a few random wooden blocks for the stabilising legs too. What type of batteries do you have? Deep Cycle? What brand? I'm thinking of getting 1 200w deep cycle battery to start with and see how I do this winter :P
@ianmcclarron7352

Hi Again, we are just in the middle of changing caravans, we sold our JB 20 ft dirt roader after traveling right round Australia, and now waiting on a new Jayco silverline 21.5 ft with slide out to be built. Should be due in about April. (Very exciting). Regarding the brand of the batteries, sorry but I cant remember, but they were 100 ah deep cycle gel cel batteries (no maintenance) and I'm getting the same again on the new van. the last van had 3 solar panels and the new one will just have two which I think is enough. With the modern led lights now we find we have plenty of power, mind you we have plenty of sun too. We are getting 3 water tanks again. you are right when you say the most important things are power and water. We mostly free camp. I forgot to mention too, I am now in the habit of chocking my van before disconnecting the car, I learn't earlier on to never trust the caravan handbrake. mine nearly rolled down an embankment into a river once. the plastic slopey leveler things make it worse too as the van tries to twist off on that side as you know. so I use 4 cheap plastic caravan chocks and always chock both sides of the wheels including behind the one on the leveler. Gets a bit fiddly getting them out at times, you have to tow the van a bit back and forth, but worth the bother I recon. Iv forgotten too and run over them. If I'm staying a while ill drive up the leveler onto wooden blocks Iv set up, that way it decreases the chance of rolling off as it is then a flat surface and easier to chock too. I watched one of your videos regarding pouring hot water on the gas cylinder to see how much gas was left in it, I tried that old wives tale too, didn't work for me either, lol. I just slop the bottle too and fro and you can feel the gas sloshing around, its a lot lighter too of course. And when in doubt I just fill it up. Cheers Ian.

Hi Karen, Nice job, sometimes i think's that caravane interior designer are 90 year old with old brown fabric or 70' psychedelic ! You can be proud, now you caravan seems more welcoming and in the trend. What do you plant on the little table ? I enjoy read you video, and helpfull with the blog ! continue like this ! A question : In N.Z. do you have the first week-end of the year, the kings galette ? and do you know this ( french tradition may be ?) ? See you later. Denis.

haha, yeah, I thought my caravan was one of the nicer looking ones available at the time. My plants are chilli and mint grown from seed :) Great to hear that the blog is helpful too! I hadn't heard of kings galette. Is it in January? How was it?
@rolanddenis4152
@rolanddenis4152 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen. Yes it's only the first week-end of january, you bought a galette in supermarket or at the bakery, there are two type : with applesauce or "frangipane " ( almond sauce ) and inside there is a ceramic bean who is hidden, and when you eat them the people who have the bean in his part, wear a crown. It's a familly moment who enjoy the children and you drink with a cup of cider or champagne for the adult. Just after the christmas and new year meal, after that you have to run run and run to preserve your health !! Have a nice week-end, see you later. Denis.

You worry to much about your batteries. If they go below 50% it will not ruin them so badly that they will need to be replaced. I hope you have found that out in the year and a half since this video was posted on YT. Not only are you a beautiful lady you are very talented as well. I guess you now know that if you really need money you could sew a few items to make a few dollars. Now on to the next video. 👍
