The plaintiff says he bought a new suit and brought it to the defendant to be altered, but the man botched it after several tries. He’s suing for the cost of a new suit. The defendant says the plaintiff is wishy-washy and couldn’t decide on the fit he wanted. He even bought the plaintiff another suit, but he still wasn’t happy.

That China cabinet in the defendant's background reminds me of Big Mama's house. I can smell the collard greens and see the plastic on the furniture. I think the defendant was well meaning but he got in over his head. He tried his best but it wasn't good enough. They were still respectful of one another and I respect how the plaintiff still wore one of the defendant's shirts to show he's a good tailor, and is still willing to give him business.

I am curious, coming from a family with seamstresses in it, was the white thread temporary stitching that was not converted to the proper thread? At times tailors will use an obvious color thread on purpose, so when the client comes for a fitting, it is easier for the tailor to see the thread. However, the final product should have been done with the proper thread. Also, sometimes those "Hard" creases can be tricky if the tailor is inexperienced. It appears he took on a job he wasn't capable of completing, then with his mother's passing, it is understandable that he just did not want to deal with it.

I remember asking a industry rep for a referral for a customer wanting a swimming pool in an area i was unfamiliar with. He referred a builder, and proceeded to tell a humorous story about how many things went wrong- Wrong color plaster, Wrong tile, Hydraulic fluid leaked from the tractor, and a few other things. Naturally, i was curious "why that guy?" The Rep said that he knew the customer well, and every single problem was taken care of and fixed to the customers satisfaction. The Builder grew rapidly, had some subcontractors that messed up, but he immediately fixed everything. He certainly did not ask for more money or pass blame. Thus, his reputation as a go-to builder was improved by how he handled these issues. Nuf said...

Yes, it's sad that his mother died and I'm sorry for his loss, however, though this may seem insensitive, life for others doesn't stop. He should've taken enough time to ask someone else to take over the work like she said. I've been there with the passing of grandmother, uncle's, my sister and even did business with someone who had a parent pass and that person remained professional in still making sure someone took over.

Or he could have at least said, I'm not going to be able to do your alterations, here's your jacket and here's your money. And if he knew of somebody who might be able to help, give him the name. If you're running a business, you have to be professional. You can't just assume life is going to stop for everybody else (as you said), just because you had a trauma. You have to be a grown up and a professional if you're going to run a business.

You're actually a bit misinformed. I took Honors Speech and Debate in high school, then public speaking in college and we're taught that when speaking publicly or to an audience that repetition is key. Even in my law classes we're taught to repeat to reiterate points and to (oftentimes) emphasize a point. As someone stated above, he's a pastor (a public speaker) so he's taught to repeat the same thing over again. I think he might be a bit nitpicky because he knows what he wants, but doesn't know how to explain it properly- but not a narcissist.

No explanation why the tailor would use white thread throughout the suit! Why would he do that?
@reneerojas6046
@reneerojas6046 2 жыл бұрын
You're right. So, as a seamstress I'll try my best to answer... I think the white thread must have been put there originally as a 'base stitch,' which is what seamstresses and tailors use in substitution for pins, to hold the ends together so they don't wiggle and cause uneven sewing. Base stitches are usually put in looser than normal stitches and in an easy to spot color, so they'll be easier to remove when it's time to pull them out after the real stitching has been done. ...And what had to have happened here, was that the tailor forgot to remove the base stitching after he'd sewn the suit, or perhaps he might have forgotten to even put the 'real' stitching in the suit. Either way, I think the job was way too big and too intricate and far too demanding for him to have taken on. ...He should have stuck to making shirts and blouses for a while longer.

um, when you open a seam on a suit and make the jacket larger, the crease from the original construction may not fully come out since they are pressed hard. I know this because im the son of a seamstress. She would always let the customer know that the creases might not fully come out and if she wasn't comfortable with the end result, she wouldn't take the job.

It’s cultural. In the traditional black church we dress up. It’s always been that way. During the times when the only work black people could do required wearing uniforms Sunday was the only day that we could put on something nice. The tradition has continued for generations. As far as pastors having suits custom made that’s a personal preference but the standard in the black church is that the pastor wears either a suit or a clergy robe. That’s starting to change as churches are adopting a more casual dress code but even the most causal pastor in a black church is going to make sure that outfit is well out together.

Who in their right mind would think to look at the stitching colour, when supposedly a professional has altered the jacket. Only an amateur would use the wrong coloured thread and take in a jacket from the back, a professional would take it in from the sides. And how does the judge not understand that once you have altered a seam and steamed it flat, it is VERY hard to remove that fold and why is the defendant calling it a row, it's a fold or pleat. The gentleman keeps trying to give free publicity to "a high-quality suit shop," "a high-quality washeteria," etc. "that gave me free stuff because I said I'd mention them on Facebook." I like the way he's apparently been advised NOT to do that, but sadly in his case it seems to be habitual. (Name drop, freebie, Facebook, sponsor me, brand name, brand name, FB, 🤖🤮💤) You can almost see him trying to say a brand name or store name, and then slamming his lips back together. Then he briefly turns purple and tries for a generic synonym, like "Joe's Butch-- dammit! I mean, a fine meats emporium I know of ," "a beautiful tailor shop," "the best dry cleaner ever that's in a strip mall," or "a very high-end silverware lending library.": As in: "Your Honor, see, I wouldn't be here today except I'm an honest man who's out $1,000 due to this borrowed suit got damaged, so here's the thing. I get lots of free stuff because I say "I'll mention it on my Facebook." Then I say, "I only need it so I can be pastor of a church, and then the Lord will bless me and you, I'll pay you back for everything I ever borrowed, and if I can't, well, I'll sell the church, take the money and leave town. --Uh, that didn't sound right. I mean, if I'm pastor of this church, I would never leave you like all the other pastors. I might consider burning the church down and collecting on the insurance, but that would only work because of the beautiful candles inside. But I digress. See, my Facebook friend Nick fronted me the money for this suit. Judge: (rolls eyes, winces) Oh, wait. Also I borrowed a knife set. And I only needed that knife set for - like I said - my dinner to get me installed as pastor of a church that does not exist, ahh, at the present time. And that's also why I needed a suit. And I'n so grateful to the good folks at Brand X Tailoring, Brand A Knives, Brand B Dry Cleaning, and I said to them, "Look, I'll get your name out there. I'll put it on Facebook and TV. Now then, I tragically damaged the borrowed suit, but it wasn't my fault! The gravy boat overturned and knocked my wine glass out of my hands on my way to the MiniMart, and then I was eating some wings and Jojo's at the wash-and-dry, and all of a sudden I realized I still had the suit on from wearing it out of the store, and there was gravy and BBQ sauce all over that beautiful suit. -- (pukes commercials)

It's sad how many fake Christians there are and, even worse how many of them become pastors. The plaintiff has no business being a pastor! A real man of God would never spend seven hundred dollars on a suit. Someone who truly knows God's word would spend a tenth of what this guy did, and donate the rest to help those in need. A real pastor would never sue someone, Especially over something as petty and materialistic as this. When someone like the plaintiff is a pastor, they pass on their sinful ways to their church intead of teaching God's word. He is leading his flock astray by his own actions and he will have to face God for that. We are all sinners, but the Bible teaches that those who lead God's children astray will face a much harsher punishment. I hope he turns away from his greed and becomes a real man of God, with real faith. I pray for the people of his church being mislead and hope they find their way to a better church and a real relationship with God.

@@lynnortiz3763 you sound dumb af, if you truly think a pastor should not be paid. I'm not even into church, but I know the pastor is not going to preach to/teach you idiots for free. $700 being expensive is subjective. It may be expensive to you, but may not be to him. Let that man live. Most pastors also have other jobs outside of the church, what he chooses to do with HIS money is HIS choice. Educate yourself before making dumb assumptions. Pastors DO have salaries from the church. Anybody can do any job, guess what... they still get paid for it. Anybody can do my job, yet I still get paid for it.
