Sometimes the sewing machine needle will fall out while sewing. This is not good at all because it can cause the machine to get damaged if the needles get into the moving parts.

I have made many rag quilts and used a walking foot and just recently started having this issue. I had no thought to be checking it so often, but I obviously must.

I have been sent a set of needles that are apparently the same as my normal brand. None of these needles will stay in the clamp and yes, they're flat on one side. I tried putting my other needles in and they were fine. I've looked at the shaft an it is clearly narrower and a little shorter. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem.

When I tried to change the needle I could not get it to stay in. Turned out that the mechanism that holds the needle had slipped up too far on the shaft and, although the needle was in the correct place, the screw in the mechanism was above the needle. Try bringing that part down if your problem persists .... it maybe stuck and will need a gentle wiggle and pull.

What happens is the screw holding the needle in place falls out but you can’t get it back in?

Thank you. I tried tightening the screw with a screwdriver rather than just my fingers and my needle hasn't fallen out since.

I am having the opposite problem, I can’t get my needle to come out when I need to change it. I loosen the screw and the needle stays stuck. Any tips?

@@staceybarn that happened to me , u just have to unscrew completely and wiggle it with a tug

My needle fell out while installing my quilting foot. Now I cannot get my sewing needling back in. I don’t understand

I was going to replace my needle and when I try to tighten it into place it keeps falling,, so I looked a bit more and can see that it is not going all the way to the top and no matter what I do I can not get it to hold a needle now what can I do
