Some lovely makes Jan. The pants turned out great and I do actually like the grey top with them as that means the pants are the main attraction. When we want to make changes to our lives I find that the bigger the change more I have to think on the lines of "I will do what ever it takes". If we want to be ourselves and have an enjoyable life then we have to do what it takes not matter what, thank you Jen ☺

On the beige shirt that you feel washes you out, just add aqua as the bias binding on the outside of the neckline. To co ordinate, do the same with the bottom of the sleeves. Just a creative thought.

Jim, you could always make some appliqué from your leftover pants fabric to add around the neckline of the neutral top that you made and then you could embroider around the applique.

That M8214 style of dress pattern is so perfect on you, Jen! The way your face lights up when you wear either one of your dress makes is confirmation that you think so too. Triangle-shaped dress patterns and A-line patterns work best on your figure. Even the S8640 dress that you love so much is another triangle-shaped dress pattern that looks so great on you and makes you sparkle! I'm thinking that you've found the style that is absolutely YOU! 🥰

Love the striped dress - great color! Love the pants outfit - really nice. You were PRODUCTIVE this week! Wow 🤩 You could definitely dye the beige top - that's a great option! Hubby's bday excursion sounds like such a great time. I hope you both enjoyed it. 🥰

We did and you should do one. Got a scopolamine patch and promptly left it at home. One of the shops had the old kind of generic Dramamine, so I took one and actually didn't get sleepy - and was fine! Feeling very good about cruising now . . .

I LOVE the diagonal striped dress. It looks so good on you. I also love the border print pants WITH the neutral top. I disagree with you about how you look in that tan/beige color. Your skin has enough color to wear that color beautifully. And those pants fit like a dream. Great outfit. I also like your seersucker dress but if you are not pleased, I understand. And of course, the pink floral is fantastic. Yay, Jen!

The top you made for the pants is fine as long as you wear a necklace like the one you are wearing but having other top options is great. The hair color helps too, maybe dye it the same blue as in the pants😄. The pants are great and they came out wonderful.

Great video Jen,you have made some terrific things and I think the top you have made goes so beautifully with those gorgeous trousers,perhaps you could just change the colour of the neck band to match the turquoise of the trousers,that might work. Your striped beach dress is lovely too.Thank you Jen for some great inspiration.🌹🌹🌹

Wow you have been busy this week! Love love the pink flowered dress and the duster with it looks so classy, I would have never have thought that would work 🌸. With the beige top , it looks great with the trousers so can you pop a turquoise neck band on it and maybe trim the sleeves with the same colour? Loved the footage of you in the sea 🌊 🥰. You gave New Look a good review 😅🥳. "Why line a dress when you can buy a slip" that's my motto 😂😂. Happy Belated Birthday to Mark and those dolphins and fireworks were incredible 🐬🎇. I didn't think it would work either, but in person it's a lot nicer because you can see the two things separately rather than a big blob of all that pink. Great idea on the band! Yes, give me all the slips. Please. That seersucker was a major PITA. Love you! xoxox (praying for the surgery - God's got this!)

Simplicity 4675: this is my take on lining- make it attached at shoulders/armhole and be slip like rest of way, free hanging. Hiking up in front- FBA so it makes it longer to go over our bumps 😃

If you really like the way the beige top fits and want to keep it to wear with those pants, why not make a raving flipped to the outside matching the pants? That would give a break to the beige. I also live watching Stephanie. Try to never miss her Friday sews as well as yours, Hoosier Handmade ( I was from Indiana) and any others I have time for. Thank you for your sweet spirit. You’re the best! Have a blessed day.

I was going to suggest either appliqué or maybe take some trim that matches in that lovely blue color and add it to the neckline. I have done that before to break up a color by my face that might make me look washed out.

Jen,,, Everything you made was really great. Your blue seersucker was a cute pattern but a better quality fabric might be much more becoming on you and also you could eliminate the lining. I’ve always liked seersucker fabrics too. So, try that again fabric and pattern as it’s really a cute dress and you look young and cute in it. . Happy 4 th of July and also, more sewing too, always! Wow, you have been busy! Stephanie inspired me to make a sundress I have had on hold for several years. I had some gorgeous Hawaiian print on an emerald green background and basically made a similar dress as your stripey one (which is totally awesome, by the way) it's just more tent shaped. I will cut it down next time. I love it though. Now, if the weather would get warm enough to wear it outside. It is Canada Day here, so will be headed to the fireworks later. Will think of you. And your little bit of Jesus made me smile, because that was the Sunday Gospel reading here. Enjoy your evening out with your husband. 🌅 Bernadette

The blue dress doesn’t hang right. Good plan to get rid of it. You could take the scissors to it and keep the pieces of fabric. Haven’t seen much of some of the fab 5 . Yourself and Carol are the two who show up regularly. I have the “know me pattern”so I’m interested to see how it turns out for you. You can get dye for synthetic fabrics. If you have scraps from the pants ,make a white top and trim it with some e of the scraps just to bring the colour in.

What a great idea. Carole brought your comment to my attention - I think she's stalking me, help me, help me, she'll probably catch me and make me only use New Look patterns! And just pants! 😂😂😂 She did mention that to everyone in the Fab 5 chat, and we all admitted that we need to get together and do something again. Thanks for the reminder!

As l haven't sewn with jersey or anything with stretch, can you explain how to cut out something with 2 or 4 way stretch. What threads and needles should be used. Please
@TodayinJensSewingRoom
@TodayinJensSewingRoom 17 күн бұрын
Just cut it out as you would anything else, mainly follow the grain line. Scissors or rotary cutter, either just as long as it's sharp. Polyester thread with a very narrow zigzag stitch or Maraflex thread with a straight stitch slightly lengthened (I use 3.0). Stretch or jersey needle, I used a size 11 Schmetz. Hope that helps!

I sewed a skirt to attach to the bodice, sewed the side seems on the bodice, pressed the side seems open, and then left the iron on for 24 hours for Simplicity 9360 60th Anniversary pattern. Wanting to make without the sleave view 2 and needing to make in a larger size due to senior weight gain. Anyone know this pattern???
