for anyone wondering why actresses are so shocked ... well, it's because it was the first time ever the prize was also officially awarded to two of the actress. IT'S A BIG DEAL.

My mother tongue is german but I've learned french for 8 years in school. Sadly it's a very hard language and I can barely understand french people.... BUT since no one translated this to english in the past 3 and more years - I try my best if you still care: Abdellatif : "We have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you forever. Thanks to Gilles Jacob and Thierry Frémaux who have invited me. (then some joke I don't understand???). Thanks to Brahim Chihuahua (?? :D) and Vincent Maraval. Thanks to the crew of Wild Bunch it is a fantastic crew. Thanks to everyone who helped us to realize this film. I want to mention a man who has carried me, who has motivated me, who has leaded me on the right track and who I like... who I miss: Claude Perrine (?). My complice, my old branch, my soulsister: Galia Lacroix. Slahedinne and (some name) are the best reward. I would like to dedicate this award - this film to the beautiful youth of France which I've met during this long period of the realization of this film and which have taught me a lot about the spirit of freedom and the life together. It's dedicated as well to another youth for an extraordinary performance which occurred not long ago: The Tunisian Revolution. For their pursuit of living freely, for expressing themselves freely and loving freely. Thank you." Adèle: "Good evening. Thank you very much Jury from Cannes. It's an enormous honor to be nominated along side all these films. Thanks very much for giving me the chance to be a part of this artpiece. (I can't understand she cries too much). Thank you Jeremy Laheurte, my love. Thanks to everyone who has worked on this film, all the technicians, just everyone. Thank you very much!" Lea: "I want to say thank you to all the people who have participated in this film, thanks to the jury, thanks Abdel, thanks Gregory Wagemans." Correct me if I made a mistake :)

the movie deserves to win as it was brilliantly made. it astonishly depicted human emotions so realisticallly and leaves one emphatizing with the main characters the movie takes the audience to their world feeling their feelings of love and of love lost.

@bxbxb1_5543 жыл бұрын
I don't think he even thanked the actresses lol
@q.parablesque56102 жыл бұрын
Because the actresses were there, also receiving the Palm. That alone is a stunning recognition of their achievement. Traditionally, you thank those not on stage who assisted in the production, either directly or indirectly.

Steven Spielberg made an exception for the actresses because he thought that their performances were so good they deserved it. Plus he knows that they got no shot at any Oscars because the academy opposes strong sexuality in films so he was like, "fuck it, ill give it to them too"
