After scouring whether this was a qc issue or just an odd bridge I ended up with, you hit the nail on the head with this explanation. My set of Black Winters came with a trembucker and I’m rather novice at swapping out pickups so this threw me for a loop - top and bottom plates ~70mm wide, Dimarzio pre-routed profiles in my Ibanez with open face cavities are 71mm wide . But the bobbin was 71.7mm. I took a chance with my skill at widening the cavity with a dremel tool and pleased with the result - trembucker fits and hardly noticeable it was modded.

I called the custom shop yesterday and they said trembuckers have a wider bobbin instead of just different spacing like how most brands accommodate wide bridges because they’re less prone to cracking; I think the DCR is higher because they still do the same amount of windings, but they said the baseplate is the same which probably avoids this problem a little better with direct-mount guitars.

As far as topics. Pick gaurds. Honestly been playing 30 years now never had a guitar with a pick guard I ever took off, changed, changed pickups in. Also what kinds of pick guards does warmouth sell. Differences? Anything kind of special we can order? I have always loved the guitar Jake E Lee plays in Red Dragon Carter's Havana video. The odd pick guard makes it. Would love to make something like it. Control placements. Can special requests be made for these. Like if you want extra switches and stuff. just how custom can we get with certain thing. This really came to mind few days ago one of your videos you mentioned on one of your guitars you had volume moved so pick hand doesn't hit it. A very common problem. Like could we get some extra toggle switches for coil tapping. What about les Paul style pick up selector on a soloist. I have been really digging some.of the off the main menu things. Been preventing me from actually buying more guitars. Neck profiles. What all can be do e with non standard neck. Like can I get a 24.5 with a wizard profile? What all kinds of special finishes have you guys done? Like last year you had the black crackle. Someone beat me to the one I wanted. You had another one recently. Ever done a sand blast finish that seems the rage now?

My late-90s / early-20s Gibson Les Pauls need wider spacing. Also, the Seymour Duncan Trembuckers are listed with a slightly higher resistance value, because the slightly larger bobbins mean slightly more wire on the coils.

FujiGen has a sort of legendary status - do people in the Warmoth shop revere those guitars the same way? Or is it just hype? Are there any gold standards of guitar manufacturing that inspired Warmoth from the beginning and continue to this day? Do your builders come from other guitar companies? Do they tend to want to go on to build full guitars either for some big name or boutique brand? Could also be interesting to have interviews with some of the builders.

Maybe SD used that sized bobbin when they developed the Trembucker?

1) One particular pickup I'm interested in, in part because Ty Tabor of King's X was using them a couple years ago on his guitars, is the Seymour Duncan P-Rails. I don't know much about them, other than they have unique switching on the pickups themselves, and it may be that they are best utilized by using them both in the bridge and neck. The last time I checked, Warmoth didn't sell them, and they may need a unique mounting size and/or pickguard. I'd love to see a demo and discussion video about them. 2) Aside from that, I'd be curious to hear different strat single coil options. I have DiMarzio HS-2 and HS-3 in my gutars but I'd be curious on deciphering the more SRV / Mayer tones and learning which SD pickups would come closest. Thanks!

Hello Paul, longtime P-Rails hoarder here. 😅 I’ve bought the 1st pair that came here in OC, CA and have bought new and scoured used them since. You don’t need a special mounting ring with them, they fit most pickup rings, BUT, the Triple Shots will help give you all four sounds EASILY. Also, if you’re ordering a custom pickguard with the P-Rails Trembucker, I would suggest checking the covered humbucker trembucker option for it to fit. I love all four sound options, but my personal favorite is their P-90 sound. You have to hear it to believe it. Hope that helps! Any further questions, feel free to message me. 🤘🏾🤘🏾
