BAD BAD umpire here, and again I ask: just because BWF doesn't allow video review, can the umpire not be honest and see that he was incorrect, and change his ruling?

you cant touch the net and cant hit your opponent of course. but as long as the shuttle is taken after the tip crosses the net, it is not a fault. No point arguing with you before you make known these facts.

Of course I'm not posting the whole of section 13. I'm posting the part that is relevant. A player may not go into the opponent's court, EXCEPT if he follows through on the shuttle in the course of the hit. So again, this is the final answer on the rule. If the umpire is faulting him for following through over the net, he is wrong. If he is faulting him for contacting the shuttle before hitting the net, that would be a fault...but of course the video shows again the umpire is wrong.

some people might think that the whole birdie must cross the net, however the HEAD is the hitting point, and the point in a legal position to be hit.

it was not a fault since the shuttle cross the net already and then contact was made. Your racket is allowed to finish over the net provided that the shuttle had cross to your side of the court. To be fair though at that speed of play it is very hard to judge net faults.

his racquet flicked the tape i think. i saw the net move after he hit the shot. the racquet head also went past the net as well.

Can i just say, that regardless who was right or what, Gillian Clark says it perfectly clear, Not video replay evidence is allowed, and once the Umpire makes his decision even he cannot over rule it unless he does it immediately, which he does not do. Meaning it doesn't matter how right or wrong he was. It is still awarded to China

Umpire is wrong here. Bad call. Shuttle is clearly hit on the Korean's side, and can be seen on the review of the video. Even the audience makes the noise as they can all see it, and the commentator can be heard as well saying she can see clearly that the umpire was incorrect. Let this be the final word on this issue, without all the garbage that one other person is causing by going on and on... Thank you!

I have the original match dude...no editing. You know when I was first learning to be a writer I had to figure out when to listen to other people's "suggestions" of how I should improve my book. A writer told me, if one person or two or three tell me to change something I can think about it, and maybe not change it. But when ten or fifteen people tell you something, it's probably you who are wrong. But I can see there is no point whatsoever in trying to convince you.

Clearly you are one of those who can not admit when you are wrong. Read all the comments, all the people are saying they see the error in saying the player hit the shuttle before it was on his side of the net. Then you say the umpire was faulting for the racket going over the net after hitting, and I point out that is permitted under badminton law. Then you question the law, and distract from the real point. I'm sorry you can't simply admit, "oh I didn't realize that was the rule, my apologies"

I am not going around with a crazy person anymore. No one takes the time to rig a video, so go home with your conspiracy theories. All videos are posted right after the matches are done, and I get them just that fast. The audience sees the error, the Gillian Clark the announcer sees the error and says it as well. You just don't want to admit you're wrong, and now make up crazy stories, or argue the rules of badminton. Whatever it takes to win...

I prefer to be treated nicely thanks, but I always know what's coming from some people, as they can not control themselves. You must be actually crazy, as you are nasty to me with the same vulgarity that you say makes other people low. All of this is sad...just because of a lousy umpire call, and you were wrong, so you decide to be like this to another person. Sad, sad, sad...
