I own one of those wooden posable art models, it helps a lot for planning poses for characters like Medic, Scout or anyone else with a similar body shape.

Steg, I know you'll probably never see this comment but, ever since I found your basic tutorial, I am so glad that I have watched your videos. Your vids have always been really helpful and I really like your SFM posters you have made. There really amazing and I wish you the best of luck on expanding your knowledge of SFM. Btw another good tip completely unrelated: if you’re starting out with animating with rigged models (in gmod terms) weld the collar bone to the hand and use the arrow tool (I forgot what it’s called) on the hand if you want the arm to bend

Well posing an animatronic (fnaf) is a different story because they have to be stiff cause there not like humans where their skin, bones, clothes can bend. Animatronics are plastic and metal well i guess you can still pose good useing them.

Question for SFM. For animation wise how can you stick a gun on his hand rig? And how are you getting the orange circle and swapping back the the yxz (models bones celection) If you reply will be a huge help for me. And thanks for the videos honestly

I only use sequences on fingers. I love posing but fingers are tedious as all fuck.

Lmao I know how to pose well, the only time I ever use sequences is for unimportant background characters and hands. Other than that I hand-pose every poster I make.

I don't know why, but for whatever reason, when i do rig_biped_simple, it doesn't do the thing it's suppose to.

Whenever I try to pose a model I keep bending the body parts out of shape instead of actually grabbing the joints to properly pose certain parts of the model, what parts do I actually need to click to pose each body part properly?

My problem is I bend my models like play do when I try to pose it clips and clops and gets torn apart by play-do

*me 1 minute into the video* JUST GET TO THE FUCKING POINT

The pose is stiff. Not putting enough time into the spine is probably the biggest flaws I see in most SFM artist, the spine takes up like 60% of the whole body and is where you emphasize the line of action, If you don't play around with it enough you'll end up with a bad pose. Just one stiff part in your poster will make it stand out to a trained eye. One thing that really bugs me is where you placed the hand relative to the leg, it's supposed to rest on the leg, but you placed it in a way that is just is not comfortable. No one would rest their arm that way. His neck should also be resting down more. He doesn't look relaxed, he looks timid. You shouldn't rush tutorials. You had a good start, but the rest of the video falls flat on its face. I know this is just the real basics of posing, but if your example in itself is not a good example of good posing, it ruins the whole point. Sorry for big rant, but maybe don't rush videos so you can advertise your twitch channel.
