This idea had been something I wanted to do since 2012. It's 2021 and I've finally had some time to learn the program. I'm quite happy how this turned out. Perhaps one of these days I should make Meet the Soldier with no helmet too!

Ok sure some find it cursed but honestly, seeing his face fully expressive adds to his character. Engie is humble and he seems to have friendly eyes and friendly personality, but boy can he turn on a dime and kill an entire team while cackling.

Out of all the "Meet the Engi without goggles" videos, this is definitely the best one I've seen. Unlike the others, this one doesn't make him look cursed by actually moving his eyes, eyebrows and eyelids where it's appropriate. For someone whose eyes we've never seen, his eye movements are very in-character.

@@LizordSword Interestingly enough, the default Engineer model *does* have facial flexes for the eyes (or at least for the eyebrows). This is how cosmetics like Special Eyes are able to work for Engie.

Honestly the effort put into the micro expressions of the eyes and the eyebrows... It's so well done, the movement seems so natural. My favourite is this 0:48, the shift from friendly talking to anticipation, to that almost sadistic glee, back to friendly guitar playing. It's perfect, it shows Engineer's character so perfectly. I just love this.

Being able to see engi's eyebrows move as he speaks is the single best addition to the original Meet short anyone could've possibly thought of. A real dam shame we can't see his eyebrows move, like, ever.

Might sound silly but my favorite expression here is 0:14 , the arched brows on “purview of your conundrums of philosophy” is such a natural expression. Moves like live action to me, such good attention to detail.

The "not pointed at you" part at the end seems MUCH more threatening and sinister with full facial expressions, complete with the death stare and squint of the eyes. bravo! the sticky jumping demo that got blown out of the sky sent me immediately after tho lol

It feels so different yet interesting seeing Engineer remove his goggles even though it only covers his eyes. The eye and brow movements says it all, It actually made me look towards goggle-less Engineer in-game differently. I.. guess he isn't cursed like that after all. He just looks like a normal person

You really managed to make goggleless and hatless Engineer seem natural. It feels like I'm watching some alternate universe version of Engineer where his design is this instead, very impressive work. By far the best "Meet the No-Goggles/Goggleless Engineer" video out there and you deserve every like and view you get for this masterpiece of eye performance (I'm not joking, it's not easy making eye movements natural and you nailed it)

I just noticed that when sticky jumping demo launches himself, engineer looks at him, and when the sticky jumping demo gets blown to smithereens, engineer shakes his head and laughs. Nice detail there bro!

I want to promise you that the reason this is so cursed is *_not_* because it isn’t good. That’s the _reason_ it is so cursed. It looks so damn good and is so convincing that I feel like it could be a legitimate version of Meet The Engineer in an adjacent universe where the only differences are minor tweaks to video game characters’ appearance, like Mario’s overalls being brown instead of blue and Master Chief having a black visor instead of a beige one. It feels so good it’s uncanny.

Probably because it's smooth, and it's got better quality animation than the original 2009 version. While we love the original, this feels like something that would be released today if the game came out in 2018 or 2017.

I'd like to think that this is a "real-time" animation, like GTA V's animations. That way, it would mean that the tf2 devs intentionally programmed the eyes to be expressive, but just covered them with the goggles, in the final thing 😂

The eyebrow movement definitely gave him a bit of an edge there. Like, the death glare at the end, and that _eeeevil_ grin at 00:50... Chef's kiss. No, I haven't been rewatching this for the past hour, I prommy. Edit about two months later: Lord help me, this man has been living in my head rent-free for months. He handsome.

I love how you animate facial expressions!!! It’s so natural and it gives him those sense of life to him. All the little details and expressions are so good. I honestly prefer this version to the original because of that. This is excellent
