Welcome to another episode of SGHB TV hosted by me, Sophia Haber Brock. Today, I'm joined by the American jazz bassist, the maestro himself, Mr. Ron Carter. Mr. Carter, 86 years old, has won three Grammy awards for his work and holds a Guinness Book of World Record for being the most-recorded jazz bassist in history. Watch the interview to hear some incredible stories about his career, his passion for music, and his relationships with fellow iconic musicians like Miles Davis, Herbie Handcock, Thelonious Monk, and Aretha Franklin. Enjoy.

Mr. Carter is Mr. Carter, an incredible musician, bassist and a person with a very elegant and distinct personality. The young interviewer, in my opinion, does a wonderful job conducting this interview showing a maturity and comportment way beyond her years. Both should be congratulated.

Mr. Carter is giant among the giants. Would have loved to hear about his influences and inspirations. I am sure there are other interviews detailing those. I'll just wait for yt algorithms to come by.

Great job with the interview, Sophia ! Ron is a gentleman, and absolutely one of the great bassists of all time. There are hundreds of albums, but if anyone needs confirmation of Ron's greatness, listen to his playing on Miles Davis's live album from 1964: "My Funny Valentine". It's all there ! ! ! Telepathic interplay with the other musicians, incredible choice of notes and bass lines, the most grooving, swinging and singular walking style ever. I can hear the low sustained Ab in my head right now that he plays on the last bridge of George Coleman's solo on the title track, and no-one else in the world could make that sound and place it where it was placed but Ron.
