Upgrading the old tracks piecemeal is sending more money down the drain. You spend more money to refurbish rail that will not be used in the end because the logistics of transferring from meter gauge to SGR will be daunting. What Kenya should do is to press on with SGR to the end or upgrade the old rail all the way to Mombasa.
