Another #travel off the beaten track to the mountainous, landlocked Central Asian country of Tajikistan, part of the ancient Silk Road and sometimes called “The Roof of the World”.
From the capital Dushanbe to Panjakent, its history can be traced back to the times of Alexander the Great and the ancient trade routes. I was blown away by the hospitality and kindness of the people and the pristine, rough landscapes of this country .
PS: Did you know that Tajikistan means the “home of Tajiks” (the suffix “stan” is an ancient Persian word for country) and Tajik itself is derived from the Persian word for crown: تاج‎ (tāj)?
