You don't feel the pain of a broken bone right away especially if it's severe. The shock Adrenaline is one hell of an anesthetic. I snapped my leg in two, felt nothing at all in fact I was trying to get back up several times but my leg was going limp. Until after couple minutes I started feeling the real pain.

Yes it would make sense to stop the fight if you see broken arm. but also if the arm is already broken there is nothing you can change about it , so if fighter screams at you it's ok then the least you can do is to let him have his moment.

Does the UFC have any rules for broken bones or sprains to stop a fight ? I always thought that the responsibility is on the fighter, and the referee could be blamed only if he did not react to the tap or defenseless condition of the fighter.

This fight was a couple of years ago or so; it turned out not to be broken, but a badly dislocated arm, which meant it could heal up a lot faster, and he was back fighting soon enough!

Sorry but I’ll have to defend the ref, Hill was still fully conscious and fighting back and did not tap so he gave him a little more time to stop it, if the ref stopped the lawler/mcdonald fight over the broken nose early we’d never got that classic!
