IT IS DONE!!
After a month of programming, trial and error, filming, editing, epic score selection, and timing of score to film, SH4 Battle of Midway is complete. So, turn up you speakers, turn down the lights, get comfortable, and pop some popcorn because here it is in all of its HD glory (yes, fraps worked this time)! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this fictitious creation of my imagination!
As always, ENJOY THE SHOW!!

I do remember one time I faced off Yamato with Balao class sub with torpedos. She is one though battleship due in impressive protection. Also sometimes you want to land the salvos in the good place

At that range, the Yamato could have soloed that US fleet, it was designed to win engagements where it would be outnumbered by multiple battleships of classes similar to the Iowa's and Montana's. Overwhelming airstrikes were pretty much the only thing that could knock out the purposefully over-engineered Yamato-class battleships, and IRL that's the only thing that did...

The Japanese did not have radar on their ships so they could see the American planes approaching. Their surface search really screwed up, missing the sectors where the American carriers were. The Americans were vastly out numbered, but were incredibly lucky. I am glad we were lucky.

Honestly the Yamato should have won. 16 in guns from the Montana is nothing compared to the 18.1in guns on the Yamato. The Yamato also had more armor on deck and in the belts. Yamato was created to be impervious to American 16in guns. But because the Montana was never built and the Yamato never really had an engagement with another battleship. No one could really tell which one is better

The guns on the Iowa were capable of penetrating the Yamato's 410mm side armor at 25,000 yards. Japanese battleships, especially the Yamato, should have an advantage of greater gun engagement ranges but American superior fire control systems gave their battleships the advantage instead. While the Iowa's armor would not have been able to withstand the Yamato (should it even score a single hit on one), the Montana's armor would have held up: it's citadel was designed to withstand it's own 16" Mark VIII guns which had similar penetrative capability as the Yamato's 18.1" guns.

16' guns of the Iowa class used a Super Heavy AP shell that actually had more penetrating power than the Yamato's 18" guns. That is the reason that the Montana (which did exist as her keel was laid and given a hull number) was to be armed with 12 16" instead of 9 18"

Pzkw V On paper and for capabilities the main guns, the *Yamato* is superior. In all other aspects, it either favors the *Iowa* or is all up in the air. Anti-aircraft guns, radar-fire control systems, damage control, crew comfort, range, speed, main gun muzzle velocity, secondary DP battery performance, and so on, the *Iowa* performs better.

Nice battle scenes, and epic music ;) Of course as we know, in the real battle of Midway, the surface ships never fired a shot. It was duked out by aircraft alone. And thank god it was.. because if the Japanese Mobile force hadn't steamed ahead of the main surface fleet, leaving them with their thumbs up their asses, they would have annihilated the US Pacific fleet in an epic gun duel. And WW2 could have gone a completely different way.

jq747 You can say they could, The US might have also bashed their asses with torps because most fleets were destroyers with some cruisers and a carrier maybe, if done correctly, they can get close enough and let hell lose, so 50/50

What is the program that you used? I know this is Silent Hunter 4, but is there an editor, and is there one in SH5?

The .mis file was changed to suit my needs using notepad. Yes it is SH4. I assume that you would be able to modify the same files in SH5, though I don't own the game. FRAPS was used to record, and Power Director 11 was used to edit the video.

Lmao.... Here's one thing... the U.S. At the time had advanced tech etc Atom Bomb. U.S Just progressed by salvaging what they can at pearl then modifying them to Have Radar. Then the USS Essex Class CV's Came and the U.S. Massproduced it. A Total of 24 Essex Class Carriers came off the Shipyard. That power was then shown at The Battle of Truk Atoll And Saipan. if u bother to watch Battle 360 U Know what I Mean but till then I have know meaning engaging you in conflict which nation is better

but... Yamato was existed... Montana was is only the fiction... and 409mmMkIII never penetrate a 410mm VC steel in counterparty - 459mm easily penetrate every part on EVERY US battleship... so this battle is really a USNavy fan production...
