Be interesting to find out though. Personally, I would much prefer a CAT C18 set at about 900hp, which it is more than capable of running at.

I did a little research and this truck has a 16.6 V8. Even the Chinese chose a V8 block. What's more important will be the build quality, durability and reliability. Just my opinion

I think the engine is a modified version of a marine engine rated at 700 hp, maybe they didn't want to waste time developing something completely new (they usually just make inline 6 engines)

Not V8, the Weichai WP17H diesel engine used is an in-line 6-cylinder model, with a displacement of 16.6000CC, and a torque of 3300 Nm, 800hp!

Whats its rating? Anything less then 131 tonne and all that horsepower is useless. Chassis looks mighty thin and small to be high rated

It may turn out to be junk, but you don't know until you put the thing to the test. I do expect it to be run into the ground, by being overloaded. You look at some of the insane expectations of trucks in Indonesia, with their great big over hang bodywork, you just gotta shake your head.

Best of luck to them! If it makes a true 800bhp and sounds like a V8 should, then what's not to like? Chances are, though, it's a pile of shit with drum brakes and grease nipples everywhere.
