That's nice looking box there, and for less than $200USD it's a pretty solid deal. Not as cool as the milk crate but the milk crate doesn't lock either.

Why do we need second plate(metal) when installing topbox? Isn't its own plate(plastic) to the box alone enough

A topbox is standard issue on a vstrom. I have the same box from 2004 and its exactly alike, wather tight and good quality. My box was lately transfered to a 800xc. (shortfilm on my page). Milk case did not do the job? 😀
