In this lesson we are going to discover a new diacritic called : Shaddah i.e. double letter.
By the end of this new series you'll be familiar with all the aspects and characteristics of this new diacritic.

Thanks, this helps me on my quraan beginners Arabic classical class, I knew the alphabet for awhile, but now just getting used to the vowels because the quraan has vowels everywhere, and they say if your not singing it by reciting it, then your not reading it, but for me I have to know the vowels and joint of letters before I increase my knowledge of learning to recite. Asalâm alaikum, I have a question in the word he taught, it is as you are pronouncing darwassa as if there is a wa and no darrassa the double 'r', da-r-rassa If you can explain me why, I would be so grateful🌞. When you don't practice, prononciation is not as easy. Thank you so much for your time🙏🏽🤗

Wa alaykum assalam !! Actually there is no " waaw" between the 2 " raa" Instead there are 2 "raa" the first one is Saakinah ( in conjunction with Sukoon ) and the second one is in conjunction with a fatha. I'm just pronouncing it slowly to help you catch the sound of the 2 " raa" since the normal pronunciation is faster and won't help as a beginner capture the essence of Shaddah.
