I've been a professional musician for 32 years, music has been my love and livelihood my whole life. i owe everything i have to it. since Davy Jones passed I've been looking at a lot of these clips on KZfaq. I didn't know why i felt compelled to look this stuff up, i never thought of myself as a fan. but now i realised that as a small child i learned my love of music, and what good music truly is,how its supposed to make you feel, from these "phonies". and THAT is as real as a thing can get.

Oh I miss Peter. I was one of the weird kids growing up in the 80s and 90s who was obsessed with the monkees. Peter ws always my favorite. This song my favorite. I was ecstatic when in the late 90s I met a friend who was my age and just as obsessed with the monkees as I was!! Now we are in our late 30s aand mommies and our children love the monkees. We've unfortunately had both of our favorites pass away now. She was in love with Davey ...me with Peter. It's interesting the things that bring people together. ❤

I have a radical thought. I think they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yes, they were created for tv. Yes, they didn't write most of their songs, nor did they play their instruments in the early days. But then they did. And even if they didn't, in the years they were active, they were nearly as popular as the Beatles. (Granted, a different demographic.) And the songs were good. The very fact that the group was made for television and were still successful, makes them an important part of music history.

Micky explained in several interviews why they would not be inducted. It was started as a private institution and the public has no say. One of the three founders declared they would never be allowed and they have continued his wishes.

This song still gives me chills so many years later. The Monkees were and will always be a substantial part of American rock music, despite the brief time they were together. I was lucky to see them twice in 1986 and 1988. and got to hear them sing this song and "Words". My first LP was "More of the Monkees" you can bet I played it to death. Rip Davy@

The song is sung in such a sincere manner and having Peter take lead and play the french horn , and three part harmony with the Monkees. I remember a interview with Davy Jones who summed up why we love the Monkees, its part of our childhood. I remember watching the shows and loved all of them, the songs, the fun they had together . This song really sums up the Monkees.I hear the voices together and If there are tears of happiness coming from my eyes. I never met them but I do miss them, And the ending we see Peter and Davy having fun , Love it. RIP Davy, Peter, and Mike. . I hope the Rock and Roll hall of fame inducts them, They deserve it after all they did sing their own songs and are quintuple platinum.

So sad to have lost Davey. And so young. My mom took my sister and I to see them live when I was 9 and my sister was 14. I was in love with Peter and she with Davey. We watched Jimmy Hendricks open for them, then was booed and hissed and cola's in cups were thrown at him on stage before he even got 1/2 way through his opening song. Yes... I WAS THERE. A concert I will never forget. And our mom took us to see everyone that came to Jacksonville. Except Elvis. Thank you momma for being such a cool mom for back in that time. You taught us to love and appreciate ALL music, but most of the importance of the lyrics. What the story teller is trying relate through song. This is the only song Peter did as a ballad. I hated Auntie Grezelda. But still loved the Monkees.

Back in 2012 I was playing Monkees songs for my wife and sons . We were trying to get out of a nasty city and so many negatives were going on . Music was my passion from a baby . I listened to records and watched anytime they had Don Websters rock show on ( I always forget the real name of the show ) , or any thing with bands on , the radio in the car. Well after playing Monkees very heavily just days before Davey Jones passing and then hearing about it was just devastating . You do not have to know someone personally . Within the realm of music it is what the songs mean to you on a personal level . Sorry if I cannot convey this correctly. Too many things have happened to my family and at times I get too sentimental and of course being a man it is still looked down upon wrongly by people ( I know I shouldn't care about that) . Feeling very emotional, today is my birthday and I am on my wife's comment section . People are so judgmental ,and things are so uncertain in this life. ❤️📅🕊

Angela Fugo ; people don't need to be so judgmental. Music plays to our hearts, our emotions, and I reject the notion that it must pass a board of music experts to be graded for complexity or innovation. I've got a bunch of Monkees albums. And Steely Dan.
