I have a really good strategy that some may find boring but if you are struggling on an event, this is a sorta cheap way to beat it. Equip epic legion axes, put the legendary Chop Till Drop move, and Basher, and Berserker obviously. You can use traps if you want, makes it easier to do the special move but Basher is the big reason why this strategy wins. When you do the special attack, as long as you dont get a critical hit on the first or second attack, the 3rd attack will start the lock animation where you swing the opponent around then stick the other axe in their head and kick them to the ground, and you can do a heavy attack before they get hit if Basher hasnt activated yet. Thats 6 hits and if you have basher well upgraded, once it activates you can just chain this special move over and over, the opponent cannot do anything to stop you and if you manage to do it in their shadow form, their energy will get wasted. I've reached combo 30 with full legion set this way, Basher is at 15 for me at 18% chance to activate so the more its upgraded the bigger chance this strategy works for you. Just be careful if Basher activates on the last hit of the attack as you may have started the heavy attack thinking basher wont activate and you will miss out on doing the special move.

Secret Triva from Nekki: Epic Legion Weapon perk Block Breacher is intentionally not working due to being the most overpowered perk for AI's events. Decision is intentional and it's on from Chapter 7 update, HOWEVER electric mines from heralds are not touched at all :)

In events bigger rarity doesnt mean more damage, both epic and legendary have the same number of ability slots so the rest if up to good perks, strategy and skill

The hammers( and axes cause they have the same attacks) have uninterruption inverval attacks that are amazing, like the back attack, the low attack is good for opponents right in your face, you shouldnt diss the hammers like that.
