for anyone who has had hard time geting on his palm, here's advice. try jumping on it when he slams his hand to the groundand. don't approach it, jump on it from few feets away. i struggled for 15 minutes trying to get on it and it didn't work until i jumped on it.

You can also try grabbing on from the bottom of his palm. I was having the same issue and once I tried this wander got on

In easy and normal difficulties, he doesn't pull his hand back after a ground slam attack, but he does that a lot in hard mode. It ruined my no-death run, grrr.

2 quick things: First, hitting the chest spot is way easier to aim at while waiting for him to stomp. Second, you can DEFINITELY shoot his weak spot with an arrow while you're high up, and it WILL make him drop the knife, and save a bunch of time.

Yeah, I beat him by shooting his weak spot from the bridge. He doesn't even need the knife/club to knock out the bridge either.

@@OtakuNerd94 Thanks for the link. There's no way I can go from his chest to his arm, or even his back. He just struggles too much. I still haven't beaten him, but your method has allowed me to get incredibly close. At one point, he pounded the ground twice with his hand. The first time I was too slow to grab on, the second I SHOULD HAVE grabbed on but the game didn't register it, and I was left standing in mid aid for about 3 seconds... then he proceeded to stomp for about 3-4 minutes straight. I gave up for the night when I fell off, got stunned from the fall, and stomped to death.

The main reason why it was hard in the Ps3 release was because of the chest vital. Wander tended to shake more in the Ps3 version than the Ps2 release, thus making it very tricky to stab.

Man, how the hell are you not getting ragdolled on his chest? I can barely raise my sword before he moves and I ragdoll. I can't seem to get his chest weakpoint before my full stamina bar drains....

The trick is to quickly let go/press and hold the grab button, and it reorients Wander. I find moving slightly (any direction while grabbing) before pulling back your sword to be helpful with avoiding ragdoll animations.

HELPFUL TIP: You can make him drop the sword by shooting an arrow at the weak spot instead of stabbing it

A lot of guides say that it's not possible to make him drop his sword with a normal arrow, but they are mistaken. It is indeed possible, although it takes either incredible luck or insane skill, so it isn't something that you should rely upon.

Yo. So, I was just trying to follow the video. After I get the second sigil complete I'm working my way to his back. I accidentally fall off his back and was like, fuck it, let's try shooting the weak spot. Worked like a damn charm!

I beat him in 5 minutes, 6 seconds. You just have to be quick as hell when you're attacking his sigils so that you don't have to waste time letting your stamina refill. For the sigil on his head, try to do many weak stabs in quick succession and when he puts his head down and is about to try swinging it back to throw you off stab him, even if the stab is barely charged up, because that will stop him from shaking and give you another chance to stab him with more power, thus saving a lot of time. If done right, you should still have a good bit of stamina left, so don't waste a single second jumping down to the sigil on his heart. Attack this one the same way you did the head and then jump back up and haul ass to that weak point on his right arm. Now after this is stabbed, you shouldn't really have much stamina left, if any at all, so drop to the ground immediately after that little cutscene and run in front of him. If you're too close, he'll just stomp with his foot, so you'll have to gauge the distance between you and him just right and he'll slam his hand down, then quickly attack that last sigil and that's how you take down Argus in 5 minutes.

Quick stabs are definitely the way to go! I must have tried full stabs 30 times, but he’d just shake the shit out of me. Then I tried this method and beat it my first go. Nuf Respect

Didn't play on PS3, but during the PS2 days the most difficult aspec was trying to figure out the fights. Without KZfaq I not even sure how I found help if I did.. or spent hours on these fights

Tbh, i played this game on PS4 first time ever, and never watched KZfaq before finishing the game. It is kinda challenging figuring out some, but once you get the hang of this game it goes alot smoother. I bet it was alot harder in PS2 to spot some things since it was way more washed out and unclear, especially when you had to use the enviroment to kill.

When you’re on his heart don’t focus on getting big stabs, just focus on getting stabs in general. When you stab him (even if it’s a weak stab) he’ll stagger and it’ll give you a window to stab again. Also when he does his shake animation, let go and quickly grab again and he should fling you up to a spot that’s more flat, then when he stops shaking, spam the jump button until you’re safe.

For those who are still struggling you can shoot his weak spot with an arrow to make him drop his weapon which i found much easier beacuse you can use all yor stamina on his chest

I found it easier to attack the right arm first to drop his sword then proceed to attack the sigil on his chest. That way you can concentrate on using all of your grip on that one sigil and if you succeed you can just drop without heading back up. Plus it’s much easier to climb the right arm than the chest. Just beat this guy with 6 minutes in change after 30 or so tries.

On PS3, this was by far the most rage inducing colossus in the game. Coming into the PS4 version, I was expecting it to be the same way, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they seem to have made the fight more fair. It's one of the most unique puzzles in the game and he looks badass. He went from a bottom three colossus to being in the top half of colossi for me.

Thanks for the help m8. I didn't even realize that Argus had the fist slam. I've always just dropped down from the ledges around his arm (which is really difficult as you may imagine). I also didn't realize you could widdle him down a little with arrows. Some little tips that might help others: -You can also shoot him in the chest vital with arrows, it doesn't have to be the head. -When you are trying to get him to stomp to raise the ground level platform, stand right in the middle, or slightly left of middle so he doesn't miss. It doesn't happen often but it sucks when on a time limit. -When trying to get him to hit the blocks down to reach the bridge level, stand right in the middle of those tiles, between the arches. Don't stand too far forward though, or he will just stomp the ground a couple times. -When just getting to the bridge level, you don't have to run all the way down there like he does in the video. There is a bridge right behind you much closer. -When you need to regain stamina from the chest vital, stand on his shoulder platform and he will only shrug instead of trying to shake violently. (still hold R2 just in case) ...otherwise I found that if you stand on his neck area closer to his head, rather than closer to his back, he will usually throw his head back instead of that wretched twisting animation that takes 10 years for him to finish. My final time was 6:57.76, but it took about 1,528 tries to beat it in under 10 minutes... mainly because i didn't know about that hand slam.........

I just defeated this colossal pain in the butt after countless tries! I discovered you can shoot his sword arm with the arrow when you are on top of the cross walk and make him drop the sword. It does not work when you are behind the arches though. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aamfltpp27PQkmQ.html

Please elaborate on how you do the chest sigil. I have shaved two minutes off this strat by getting him to drop his weapon before the mount, yet I cannot land single hit on the chest.

Started with the sigil on the chest, before doing the one on the head. He does not move to much in the beginning and the head is easy after that.

Two things that may help you improve your hard time attack. 1. You don't need to go to the crosswalk on the opposite side, you have just one behind your back 2. You don't need to hit a hidden vital point to make him drop the sword, I randomly fall to his hand with the sword. You still can hit vital point

Much easier to 1st: Do the head. 2nd Do the arm and climb back. 3rd do the chest so you can fall to the ground afterwards. Worked better for me after many attempts this way :)

Actually at the end, when he drops his weapon you don't have to drop on the ground, just climb up again and try jump from his shoulder to grab his arm and move to the weak spot

Just to add to this, I was able to shoot the elbow weak point with an arrow to get him to drop his knife, he was acting funny though and managed to get himself turned away from me though so it may not be very effective normally

This is the hardest colossi cause weak spot this colossi is his chest. I just try again over and over. And I just lucky when this colossi is not shaking too much.

Man I don't know if this game has a few bugs in it but when I did this it was if he couldn't brake the pillars and it would just bonk off of them . I even tried in a different location an the same thing happened so I thought I was doing something wrong. I had no problems with the PS3 version.

I need to try this one several times and I had a problem with the "heart spot". I found the way. Simple, after shooting from the bridge jump direct on his chest. I discovered that more life he has, the less he shakes. So I could destroy that vital pount in 3 deep strikes and climb back to his head still having almost half of stamina bar. This way I finish him I'm 5:30. Hope it will help someone😅 Cheers!😎✌

I feel like they made the Colossi harder on HTA, he NEVER moved his hand when I beat him on hard initially or on my speedrun but all of a sudden he takes minutes to strike and moves his hand. Still beat it with twenty seconds to spare but damn

If you see this, good job! You unlocked a tip! If you shoot the cracks on Argus' right arm from the bridge "or anywhere, just that you hit it, not only with the sword, bud." He drops it prematurely! Neat, huh?

I remember when fighting him it didn't matter which part of him you hit with arrows. If you hit his arms, torso or head it still took off damage. Now it only works if you hit the head.

Why doesn’t the vital show up on his chest? His health bar disappeared as well. Did I have to do the head and then the chest? I did the head and then the arm and I dont see one on his chest

Waffles 12415 sometimes it refuses to appear unless you get right on top of it Also, this is hard mode time attack, requires hard mode to be complete and can then access time attack

The "new" sigil on his heart is the one that ruins it for me. I am hanging above it and want to climb down. I point the controller down, but nothing happens. Wander refuses to climb down and just keeps hanging. Am I missing something here? It is my last time attack, so I would appreciate tips. Thx!

He had a thing in the PS3 version where he would suddenly jerk his hand away from you after he slammed the ground. That's what makes it so hard for me.

The One Above All Believe it or not, he still does it with me! Everytime I try to jump on his hand, he jerks it back! I can lose 2-3 minutes just for the f***ing hand! I have no idea why he doesn't do that in the video....

Yeah, I though he didn't but once I got to that part it's still happening. Best way to approach it is to dive towards his feet when the hand comes down, then grab his wrist band thing. That seems to work great.

I had a lot of difficulty on him (ps4 pro) and after a lot of researching i came to only one conclusion: AI Bug. He NEVER did this with me on 30fps, only on 60fps.

Ok I made it. Used so many arrows as I could to shoot his chest, while I was on the move. I was going at first for the chest, when I was on him, directly falling down to the sport. u have to stab it in the middle of the blue sign to do the moost damage. After go to the head, shoulder and the hand. As I made it, still had to go two rounds to the chest. It was a tough son of a....

I dont know whats th3 probleme is at this boss. When you shoot in the arm on the the bridge, he lost hes swort and the fight ist verry easy with enough time

It's 2020, but what I did before was when it starts: 1. move to the right a little so it steps on you with left feet. 2. Before the left feet lands, jump to his right knee as it lowers 3. Wiggle to the side of the knee a bit and jump up to the waist area 4. Jump to the arm 5. Let go for a milisecond and grab again below onto the hand 6. Adjust so you're grabbing on the hair around the palms 7. Stab his hand This will be done in under 2 minutes, so you have 8 more minutes to either climb up the arm from there, or just do the normal break-the-bridge thing and you'll still be able to beat it in 4 minutes. This just lets you avoid making him swing his fist down in the end.

I found Gaius(3), Phaedra(4), Barba(6) and Argus (15) to be BY FAR the hardest Every other Colossi seemed to be easy taking only 1 to 3 tries to defeat

I know a glitch to kill Phaedra very easy! You gonna take Agro when it starts, then you gonna run close to his leg and jump, so you gonna grab it and when he put his leg down, you gonna jump, then you gonna jump again to the next part of his leg, then you can jump to his back and kill him. It's very easy, if you coudn't do it, try again. Im brazillian and my english isn't so good, but I know a Channel that gonna help you with that. Just type "pronto para o jogo?" (is The name of the Channel) and put something like "shadow of the colossus speedrun", then a playlist of his tutorials gonna apear, Just watch it, you don't need to understand, Just do what he's doing and be happy :D (sorry if it was Hard to understand, my english isn't very well :/)

Cool! Btw, I started doing my time trials and my Stamina and health are really low. The guide guy has very high stam. Can that be upgraded for time trials or something?

For the time trials you get default health and stamina, nothing to do about it.

@@redneckpraha Well his stamina is higher than mine. Someone on the Reddit group told me that Stamina is based on the Stamina you had when you first beat the boss.

Basketbomber Slackingson then you got lucky. His chest spot is basically broken/glitched. You can’t hang on to it 90% of the time and end up flailing, even when he’s standing still

Hideo Kojima it is easier on ps2 because the gameplay was MADE FOR the dualshock 2. It wasn't a bad controller to the time, but when you put a dualshock 4, a much much more sensitive controller to use on a game like this, it's horrible. If it is a "remake", optmize the controls to be better. This sucks, period. "Oh but do it weird because of the old feels" my ass. Also, the game has A LOT of bugs on 60 fps, on PS4 Pro. It was clearly made to run on 30 frames. Hideo Kojima are you triggered? Shaun Dennis i have all the trophies, and you are missing some parts of your brain.

Yess!!! I did it cmon even after falling off i took hand first then got back up and finished him off! NEVER AGAIN Edit 8:07 time left so if anyone still happens to play this it can still be done if you fall, if youve broke his weapon, and done head u can get a few hits on the chest, fall, do his hand and get back up to finish it if needs be.

I found this guy much tougher than Gaius. I still cant beat him. Best time so far on hard is over 19 mins, all because of the damn constant shaking on the chest :(

Like WTF??? I swear to god it must be like only me or something....this dude absolutely shakes all the time and there is just no way to get and stabs in. I get one and then I gotta climb back up and regenerate. Go back and I for the life of me I don't even get a single strike in. There's just no way. It's just waiting and waiting....and then when I try stabbing he just keeps shaking. This one is absolutely insane. I even got 13 without having to look it up. I just give up for now....

I’m on the same boat!! The chest part is absolute bull***t. He keeps shaking for me all the time and I end up falling. My stamina drains way too fast. 🤬 I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it.

@@xxstargazerxx8158 Lol that was me 3 months ago. And guess what? I beat him and I got the platinum on this game. Take it from me. I thought the same as you that it was impossible. And I did it, after not giving up. Was it frustrating? Oh hell yes it was but it felt worth while and rewarding in the end. Great game and worth the effort to get the trophy for my fav game.

To anyone who already owns the the game. Lots of people are wondering if all the unlocks for Time Attack Mode on Normal carry over to Hard difficultly and eventually Hard Time Attack Mode. Meaning do they all remain on the same save file?

Dillpickels Pickels if it makes you feel any better i got it eventually & got platinum. When you go for his chest try and stay high initially so you can just stab it. When he starts to be a dick and shake a lot release your grab and quickly regrip. If done right u shud be able to get a charged stab in. Hope that helps, you just need a lucky good run and patience bro but it is awful design.

fuck this Colossus. I beat him at 9mins and 40secs. I don't remember hime being such an ass w/ the hand part. I seriously don't remember him just yanking it away quick. And the chest shaking thing. Jeez. I seriously think that's different from the originals. Seemed a bit off from before. Or maybe I don't remember struggling that hard in the PS3 and PS2 versions.
