Honestly, however you may feel about the Thicc furry characters, this dev has a really cool idea for a style of game. He creates characters with likeable personalities and relationships who you would want to see survive the situation (and has the decency to have happy endings) and the hide n' seek viewed from the creatures perspective is a really great and spooky concept

For anyone wondering: The tip number, 222, is a number of blessing, specifically positivity, joy, luck, and good things to come, a reminder that you’re doing the right thing/are on the right path So basically they’re blessing the diner/reassuring you with the large tip because you have to deal with the shadowcatcher while making food for the shadows

You know for a "horror game", this is a surprisingly sweet game. The protags are nice, the golden ending is 100% happy, and it doesn't try to take itself too seriously. It just feels nice and comfy.

A horror game that's actually kinda wholesome with thicc furry ladies and adorable shadow families? Fuck yeah.

People are talking about the "thicc" furries but honestly I feel like that dev has a taste for a specific kind of theme in general. Both games have a huge poverty/poor setting to them. They feel sort of homely but also desolate in that sense. It makes a good setting for a horror game because the settings just look so bleak and lifeless. But it's all the characters have so they make the best of it. I like that the games are more a sort of "strange and unusual" mixed with the dreary reality of American poverty. It does feel like a sort of modern fable as another said.

i really like how the shadows aren’t the villains, it’s the one hunting them that is. the player characters just happened to be caught in the middle

I was surprised overweight animal people could hide so well. Also I liked that it was a sheep and a sheep dog, that was cute.

You know, this developer has found a very specific, niche type of horror with their approach to character design and I can respect their sheer boldness. I like that this game's much more involved than their prior title, but I do have to say I'm left wanting on some of their food models; no offense meant, I'd just be disappointed if my bacon and eggs only had three pieces of bacon.

Ok but the characters this guy writes are tearjerkingly homely. So full of personality. If I looked up fan art I’d cry I think. Even the shadow people have my heart entirely. I hope no one gives this guy grief for “sex reasons”

This developer likes their ladies with a whole bakery, fridge full of milk, and a belly full of jelly and I can appreciate that.

all jokes aside, i can appreciate the character designs. i am not a furry and the developer is a confirmed non-furry. the character designs were meant to have a soft touch to them, in the same way you would see animals in old animations. its nice seeing plus sizes characters as well. people may comment on booba size, i get it, but in all honesty ive seen actual people like that, and they are the most well developed characters ive ever seen in a horror game

I refuse to believe that I'm the only one who thinks that they way the Shadow Catcher smiles at the end is pretty adorable

The old rusty diner and middle aged characters trying to make enough money to pay for their diner seems really nostalgic, atleast to me It makes the characters struggles seem almost real, making you want to sympathize with them and help

This style is recognizable, not only due to the characters, but the visuals and lighting. It’s great. Even the gameplay and plot are similar. Plus, Shadow People are quite nice.

The dev definitely has a certain type of character design that can stand out, but don't let it distract from the fact there's a lot of heart in these games! The models are really well made, the stories are interesting enough to bring you in, and I like how all the main characters so far are hardworking middle-aged women. It's definitely a change from the norm! If the dev keeps working on stuff, I'm sure they'll improve even more, and make really great games! I hope they keep going! (Also, side bit, but the idea of a sheep with hair curlers is funny to me. Make your hair TWICE AS CURLY! Though, as someone with curly hair, I don't know why anybody would want to do that.)

42:00 - 42:25 This is the genuine most precious Manly moment ever recorded. His skit was a good chuckle, and it's adorable how he couldn't keep that laugh in at how goofy the follow-up line was.

_"I missed your money"_ I never expected a restaurant stealth game lol. I just loved Maude and her curlers and the realist Sam. The real horror here was that mac and cheese sandwich.

I need to praise this horror cooking game for not being "And then they cooked people and ate people!!!" Don't get me wrong those are okay, there isn't inherently anything wrong with tropes. It is just nice to see some variety that doesn't involve cooking people as part of the plot, cooking isn't a one trick pony.

i know everyone comments on the character design as this developer’s trademark, but i also like the touch of the perspective switching to the monster when it comes looking for you. personally, i really like the sense of dread it gives you

You know, this game is remarkably stress inducing. It's not necessarily the scariest in the traditional sense, but it sure gets my caution level cranked waaaay up and causes more stress-based fear. I like this approach to horror because it relies more on suspense and dread versus heavy jump scares and scary imagery. I also really like the lack of visuals for the shadow catcher--the unknown is a hell of a lot more terrifying and not being able to even see the thing you're fighting or hiding from is top tier. I did like the very ending though, since the shadow catcher became a friend, which did offset the fear factor of the monster, but in a good way. And the whole thing about the "acquired taste" of the character models: I absolutely agree that is not the character models I'm expecting (got flashbacks of the *single* time I was curious about wth deviant art was), but honestly, they're perfectly fine in my book. I've seen plenty of people like that before in real life anyway and these models aren't made to be a long-winded fat joke; not to mention, they actually seem to be pretty happy even in the non-perfect ending, so more power to 'em. Good on you dev. I know it's small and not likely to be consequential, but I appreciate it. I like seeing people happy, especially the types that often just get made into jokes.

One thing great about this game is the art. To me, it really captures the gloominess especially the shading making it look all, rusty? Not exactly sure what to describe it but I really love it.

Love his art style. It's certainly a good way to make sure anyone recognises the gamemaker in a heartbeat. We also get awesome depictions of clear and concise depictions of neuron activation like our friend Manly here demonstrated at 4:44.

Whenever I look at the protags of the game, I get reminded of my mother. It's oddly comforting in these horror games. But I get whiplash whenever I looked at the comments and see 'The dev has an enquired taste...'

I really like all the character designs because you can tell a lot of their personality from it. Maude is sweet and doesn't care what others think (sometimes to a detriment,) Sam is logical yet cares deeply for the ones she loves, the Shadow family are odd and mysterious, but also kind, patient, and adorable! Also, the constant cooking noises were oddly calming.

We love plus sized characters in media, especially as proper characters rather than throw away gags. Even if they’re a bit topheavy, it’s a good thing to see devs do!

Bless this developer, man. That ending had no right being as wholesome as it was.

You know, i really like the urban landscape mixed with furry characters aesthetics of this dev's games. It creates a weird twist on the "Fantastic Noir" genre by having the furry characters treated "mundanely" while the fantastical elements are still treated in a shocking manner. It's like Zootopia in a sense. Except, you know, with big boobs for everyone.

all these devs characters tend to have lower class midwest/southern united states vibes, but like the sweet aunt vibes yk?? she would get you sweet tea and let you watch cartoons in her living room on hot summer days, as long as you play with your mildly annoying but still endearing younger cousin. very humble and homely, something that as a northeasterner ive experienced very little (relatives over here tend to be less down-to-earth i guess), but from what i have experienced, it brings me a sense of familiarity and comfort yk??

Y'know what? Respect to the dev for doubling down on the design, it's not much, but it works I guess. I don't think I've seen too many other games in horror that have an anthropomorphic cast so here's hoping we (or at least I) start seeing more like this in the future.

222 is a message of hope, representative of balance, harmony, life choices, commitment, compromise, and trust. The reason why they probably give the characters $222 each night is to not only give them a large tip but is their way of telling them to have hope.

I love how homely and relatable these characters are. Their personalities are set and they feel like actual people despite being anthropromorphic. Plus the shadow family being wholesome and friendly is a nice touch. I like the games this person makes, I hope they keep at it. Their style is a breathe of fresh air.

This dude makes really cute horror games, while still having grime-y aesthetic and anxiety-inducing gameplay. I hope they continue the good work, really adored this and The Man From The Window. As for the character designs, I find them refreshing personally. I'm so used to cute anime girls or blank protagonists by now.

I'm going back through the playlist of this dev's games after Midnight Maid Night and I really love Maude already. Decides this nice little shadow family should be allowed to have a nice meal at her place. Hears about the Shadowcatcher and immediately decides that he's banned. Mad respect.

I love how each family member finishes their meal and pays for it before we even take the order for the next person. Definitely wouldn't get you fired if you did this as a server in real life.

Okay but the best ending twist is A++. This creator knows how to make some "cozy horror" and I love it. I mean, if a werewolf barged in my door, why wouldn't I offer them a cup of tea? They've clearly been having a bad day and need some comfort.

There's two big reasons why people recognize this developer. Honestly, the dev should keep up the "stylistic choice".

I always appreciate Manly giving a lot of indie horror games a proper playthrough and not being like "oh haha I see a large furry character going to pass" because this game is genuinely great and unique! Not a lot of KZfaqrs give the little guys the limelight

Heard that the creator isn't actually a furry. Huh. Well, while the character designs are interesting, I think they play off the "motherly figure" aspect...nicely? Accurately? The whole game, while having a "beat-the-clock" aspect and a sort of spooky premise, is just enough horror to be interesting. But the game is also strangely comfortable. I like all of the characters and their personalities. I like that there isn't a twist where the Shadows are actually evil or anything, and I like the Happy Ever After ending. Idk, it's just a great game. And even thought there is an obvious "visual theme", it doesn't take away from the game, and it doesn't encompass the characters' whole personalities. They're just kind people who happen to be thick as hell. And you know what? I would like a few more games with thick characters who are just lovely people, please. :) Especially since I'm thick myself. It's kinda refreshing, in a weird way. 10/10 game and video.

I like this game. The ending is wholesome. And do are the characters. You can understand why sam is a bit wary at first, i would too, i like that Maude doesnt care ect. Also it does feel a bit intense too which is nice. Nice lil game and pretty interesting concepts. Hope the devs get supported

The developer is really good at making these hide and seek horror with decent endings and setting an atmosphere I enjoy the characters and I love the character designs they're so into their own personalities that they fit wonderfully I hope to see more

I really like the silly ending with the Shadowcatcher giving up his job to work there. It's so unexpectedly out of nowhere coming that it's pretty funny. This is quite a bit more involved compared to the last game of hiding, although we didn't actually deal with The Man from the Window there, so perhaps a sequel of some sorts, someday?

Huh. That was...charming. I really liked the fact that the Shadows aren't the enemy or even malicious.

I respect this dev, he has his character design taste and yet he still proudly puts it in despite the whole modern day regulation conformism. Makes for a good couple of laughs and is not just there for the sake of it being there.

That good ending is delightful! Even the Shadowcatcher gets a good ending and you get a good look at him. Its so sweet that they all become friends.

The uh, unique characters aside, I do really appreciate the type of humor in this dev's games and how the enemy's patrol pattern catch you off guard. It isn't just the generic "more aggressive and faster" like say in FNAF, but actually seeing the enemy switching pattern from fast sprinting, silent crawling, spawning at your previous safe zone, and even pretending to leave really add to the genre.

You know I didnt realize how much I needed a horror diner dash until now. I think the cooking mechanics is really fun and the shadow catcher keeps you on your toes especially how they switch it up every night so you cant stick to one strategy!

I feel like this is an elaborate horror game about sheltering an immigrant family from an immigration officer. The good ending is where they allowed immigration to where they are and the Shadowcatcher needs a new gig since he couldn't find the family.

I just can't get over how great Maude and Sam are as characters. Like legit, I definitely want to see another game with these two ladies as the protagonists Absolute 10/10 game and 10/10 let's play

i love the contrast of the... Interesting designs of maude and sam, with the utter wholesomeness of the entire story. i can't think of another horror game off the top of my head that ends on such a purely happy, dorky note, but it's perfect for this one
