a few fun facts about the alternate dimension that call back to the book: - Luke owned a rare book store in the book like in the commercial - Magnus had cats in the book but the actor Harry was allergic so they decided to scrap that but that’s why they had them in the alternate dimension - the little Simon/Jace alternate dimension friendship with the handshake was really like the actors irl because Dom and Alberto are super close with each other also it was a promotion with the Alice in wonderland movie which was kind of obvious with the whole party theme yes they’re back in their dimension at the end. within the normal dimension you can only portal to places you have been before, so they had to travel to the alternate dimension where you can use portals to go wherever you intend (without having been there before) so in the alternate dimension they had the ability to portal to where valentine was the alternate dimension is def the idea of a perfect human world without the shadow world where clary and her family are together, alec is seemingly out proud and more confident, izzy gets to be a little more nerdy, etc. so it’s fun to see!!

I loved the reaction. I really loved the parallels between Alternate Alec and Shadowhunters Reality Magnus I mean they both said "Playing hard to get. I love a challenge" 😂 I just know that the plottwist next episode will get you like 😮 already giggling at the "father of the year" moment in episode 11

Here's an intresting fact from the books- this world inverted is actually the name of a part of the sixth Mortal Instruments book. The crew (minus Magnus) was met with a dream demon, a demon who (suprise surprise) feeds off of people's dreams. When they met the demon, they were put into a sleep, where each character would dream about their ideal world (for example, Alec's dream was his parents being proud of him, despite being in a relationship with Magnus, with all his loved ones to witness him being a hero- this dream differed from his real life because his parents were not proud, he was not in a relationship with Magnus at the time, and some of those loved ones were dead). However, the demon being a demon did not understand human emotions, and for each character, there was something wildly inacurate about their ideal world. Alec's was that Jace had a crush on him, even though at that point in the story, Alec had long moved on from Jace. Alec was able to wake up, shoot the demon, and everyone else managed to escape their "ideal world."

I forogt how confusing this episode was xd. It definitely is an interesting look at what their lives might be like if they weren't involved in the Shadow world. For Magnus, it's tame and since he used to be a part of it, he seems bored. But for everyone else, since they never were a part of it, they live without a lot of the trauma it caused, it seems. Anyway! I just find it super interesting. Also we love the role reversal of Alec and Magnus lol. Love your reactions!

this is such a fun episode!! I love me a good alternate universe ep of any show! simon is so so cute he always puts a smile on my face and I love that him and luke are so close, I like that simon trusts him and still sees him as a father figure and someone he can confide in. I liked their storyline this episode! having simon pretend to be a serial killer is so funny lmao, I couldn’t take him seriously but he sold it! at least now luke doesn’t have to worry about the police being on his case. your confusion was so good 🤣 I think izzy being on trial is such bull, I understand why alec would trade the cup for izzys freedom, and I think eventually we could get lydia to be on our side idk also I think alec is being a little dramatic “jace is dead to me” nah he’s not you love him lol love the alternate dimension it’s so fun to see our characters in a different light! izzy being so nerdy and cute and simon still being himself and them together? 👀🤔 I love it actually! it’s so weird to see valentine be a normal dad in this universe also jace being so normal and smiley and nervous I liked that side of him actually! wish we could see more of it in the actual universe the characters are in also magnus and alec basically switching personalities oooo so fun I adored it! it’s so weird seeing magnus without the makeup and stuff! & “playing hard to get, I love a challenge” i squealed!!! the ending!!! that cliffhanger!!!

The "things are just kinda happening" is at its peak right now, so this and next episode give me a headache BUT... for me, this episode is fun :D And by that I mean the alternate dimension. And Simon, that part is fun too. Okay I guess just anything involving normal-dimension Alec isn't lol. He's not... Things aren't great. Again. Still. For me, he's just textbook "trying to do the right thing in the completely wrong way" at the moment. * sigh * Okay, why different dimension, I couldn't find if anyone else clarified and if they did, you're getting soo much clarification lol: Clary had this shard (the necklace), that was a piece of another dimension. So with that shard, they could with Meliorn's help go to that other dimension. And in that dimension, was a portal they (with the help of the shard) could use to portal to whomever they thought of. Which you can't do in their real world, not all portals are created equal. So because she already had that portal-key if you will, Meliorn could help Clary in that specific way, at that specific time, as paying her back. But he was also a fugitive so he probably wasn't very keen on just hanging around in a realm where he could be caught by the Clave again, therefor it was a "do it when it's convenient for me" kind of offer. And both Clary and Jace's capacity for think-first-do-later is very non-existent, so they went with it. So that's why they had to ("had to") go to their world - alternate dimensions - their world. And the alternate dimension the colors were bright and super saturated, so yes, when they stepped out of that, they were back in normal world. ......aaaaand with that, they jumped into somewhere they knew absolutely nothing about, with zero preparation, with as far as they knew full certainty on meeting Valentine because that's LITERALLY WHO THEY WERE GOING THERE TO FIND.... yeah. They sure are something those two :p

this episode was honestly so fun! it was nice to see our main characters differently and the book references were amazing. i agree with what you said about alec; this man just wants everyone he loves to be safe and to do things in the right way. only one ep more till we reach ep12! can't wait

You bet on it. - My poor boy Simon is not treated well by the werewolves except for Luke ;-; Is it cause he's a vampire? well yes, but how are you not going to be kind to a guy who looks like him - It would be very traumatic to watch your "happy" family interact with each other, especially if that "happy family" includes the man responsible for the disappearance of your mother. At that moment, I empathized with Clary - ALEC BEING OFFENDED BY CLARY NOT KNOWING THE THEME OF THE PARTY CRACKS ME UP. Matt decided to play him as sassy as he could be, and I love it. - I wouldn't mind if Simon and Izzy were together either - Lydia's first thought be Alec coming to tell her that the engagement was off-is a MOOD. Girl, neither do you want it, do you? - Kat mimicking Harry's magic mannerisms is hilarious because we know that Harry is so elegant with his movements - You being confused by the Simon-Luke plot is sooo funny, I shouldn't laugh - My boys fighting and being on different sides makes my heart hurt. I like the way the writers portrayed the parabatai bond in S1 - SHUT UP. AU MALEC. YES they look flawless!!!! Alec out of his shell and taking the initiative to flirt with Magnus is a blessing, and I love the show for giving us that treat. C'mon they even replicated their dialogues 😭 - I love the sibling relationship Izzy and Alec have, they support each other in their rights and wrongs :''''D - Hello Mr. Blondie!!! Actually, Jace's face really hurt me to watch, that poor boy and his traumas
