The fact that Lydia understood and even told him that he deserves to be happy even if it wasn't with her just proves how truly awesome she is. She's being left at the altar and she isn't upset or throwing a fit, she's accepting the fact that Alec isn't the one she's supposed to be with and I praise her for that. It's very rare that you see movies or TV shows show something like this.

i remember this was airing on tv and i stumbled across it with my grandma, we had no idea what it was but we noticed alec was handsome so we decided to keep it on. When magnus entered the room she said: oh boy he's gonna ruin the wedding to be with the bride the shock on her face when she realized what was actually happening was priceless.

My respect for Lydia increased tenfold after this scene. I mean, getting rejected on your wedding day and saying that it's okay and that whoever you were supposed to be marrying deserves to be happy, even if it's not with you, that is something not many people would be able to do.

I love this scene but my favorite part is this part, 3:01 when the music quiets down as Alec makes his decision to go to Magnus. You can literally hear his heart beat, its calm and steady. He’s not freaking out cause he knows exactly what he’s doing and that’s choosing his own heart, choosing Magnus.

I love that Lydia checks with Alec at 01:32 to make sure he still wants to do this. She understands the sacrifice he is willing to make for his family. I think she respects his determination but has mixed feelings, judging from her expression a few seconds later. I don't think she loves Alec, not romantically anyway, but I think she obviously cares for him, and his family. I imagine she's disappointed but also relieved that she won't trap him in a loveless, political marriage. Their relationship would likely have become strained over time and they would have grown to resent each other. She's right that Alec (and she herself) deserves to be happy. I wish we had seen more of her in the series. She was a great addition to the cast. Obviously, Alec and Magnus are the focus of this scene but I really like every part of it. Every actor is on point here, and the music fits it perfectly. Really a great scene.....Also, the silent brother tilting his head at 03:37 like "uh...what?" is kind of hilarious.

I'll never forget that first time I watched this scene and how I felt about it. I had gotten no context of the story and characters. Not even in the slightest. Just randomly stumbled across this scene and decided to watch it for no reason. Idk if someone has ever been in an experience similar to me, but the first time I had seen this, I took Magnus as a shy and timid dude. It felt like he's gathered a lot of courage to be in that place and give it all he's got to convince Alec to change his mind. It was such a nice feeling to see that he spoke nothing at all, just stood there silent as if ready to accept whatever the fate allowed (while also having his mind set that he'd not let things lose from his hand at any cost). Alec on the other hand seemed like a very straightforward and confident guy, who doesn't care about anything else in the moment. He just goes for what he desires, mainly thinking of his lover first, prioritizing what he might be here for. It all just went in a flash and I can't describe how my breathe was literally stuck in my throat when they kissed. Even till the very end, it felt like Magnus is pretending to leave everything behind and just be in the moment, while Alec was confident as ever to choose what was his right. What I want to prove from this long ass comment is that without any context, this is how it feels to watch this scene. While the reality of the show is completely opposite. It's Magnus who's full of experience, witty, and confident. And Alec is the one unprepared, and very cautious in his actions, but willing to send everything to hell and just do what it needs to be done. It's crazy that the scene can bring you a totally different feeling on your first watch when you have nothing in your mind about the story and background. I wish though, that I could experience this scene just like the very first time, again and again. I keep visiting it for that type of feeling but it doesn't feel the same of course. One of the reasons being that I know the characters and purpose now. It somehow changes the whole perception, making it impossible to watch it with what you perceive it like I did. Congratulations if you read this till the end. Hope I didn't waste your time. I just needed to get this written somewhere lol.

One of the several things I love about this scene is that Magnus confidently stops Maryse midway while she talks but we can see how underconfident he actually is. He doesn't think that Alec would actually choose him, he is still unsure. We can see how he has this slight change of expression when Alec finally starts walking towards him. Till then he was just hoping and waiting to see what would Alec choose and then he finally has that sense of relief and happiness when Alec starts to walk towards him. Just🥰🥰🥰 also, it's 2020 and I'm still hooked on this scene.

The best scene in the whole show. That song, that staging, that acting, those emotions and reactions! Perfect! During the wedding I sat on my tiptoes and my hair on my arms literally stood up because I was so intrigued by the moment - I was like : Alec's not gonna do it, is he? Nah, he's not, of course not.
