You can honestly see how Alec's love for Magnus is above his own life. He would lose everything for Magnus. But inspite of all this, Alec doesn't believe that he is more important to Magnus than any other of his loves. And although this breakup has wrenched my soul, it will allow Alec to finally know what he is to Magnus. Their love, is more than them. It's beautiful, caring, trusting, selfless, sacrificial, and most importantly, immortal.

Even if Alec doesn't live for ever (and ot is my understanding he doesn't want to) their love will because "amor verus numquam moritur" true love never dies. It was the inscription on Izzy's ruby necklace that she used as a sensor. A gift originally from Magnus to Camille of all people but that found it's rightful home soon after with the Lightwoods the family that would provide Magnus with his truest love

Soooo wrong. Alec is different from his previous lovers. With him he can't keep the beautiful memories and move on. I will always say: Alec is the love of his life.

I agree he is very wrong. Alec making this decision without talking to Magnus was very wrong. I don't care that magnus' father told him not to tell magnus he should have gone to Magnus told him about the deal and made the decision together. Does Magnus look like he gives a damn about his magic in the preview. He's crushed and heartbroken. Izzy is the only one who knows everything that going on with Alec. She knows how much Magnus and Alec love each other. I think Alec is going to regret this decision before episode 19 is over. If magnus' gets his memories of Alec wiped it will be Alec's fault. I hope this episode makes them both realize how much they truly love each other. People say they are getting married in the 2 hour final. Magnus must not get his memories of Alec wiped or if he does obviously it doesn't last and he gets them right back. A wedding would be ridiculous if Magnus was marrying a stranger.

@@nessa9732 from the looks of the episode 19 preview the last thing Magnus is thinking about is his magic. He is crushed and heartbroken without Alec. Alec made a decision that affects them as a couple with talking to Magnus. That was not fair to Magnus. Alec thinks he just another of magnus' many loves and that he will someday recover from the pain. Well Alec was wrong. He has no clue how much Magnus loves him. Magnus is even thinking about having all memories of Alec erased from his mind because he can't bear to live without him. Izzy needs to tell magnus right away. Alec doesn't have much self worth. Hopefully Izzy step in and tells Magnus before it's too late. Believe it or not Heidi Lewis is my real name. I've had quite a few people ask me about it. It's pretty funny sounds like a made up shadowhunter's fan name. 😀

You know, this had to happen for Magnus and Alec both to realize that this relationship is more important to Magnus than all he has had before. Magnus has kept a memory of each person he has loved to be able to remember them, because he thinks that love never dies, but with Alec he can't do that, he can't save a memory in a box and move on. He can't live knowing that he has lost him, so the best solution is to lose all his memories of him. That's how Magnus makes us understand that Alec is the love of his life.

When Alec says "I'm not the first person he's loved and I won't be the last." that really hits me, because he is basically making sure that he isn't the last. The fact that Magnus has loved others before and that he'd live on after Alec died with that possibility (and likeliness) that he'd love others after him used to make him so insecure, but here he is literally saying that he is going to make sure he is not the last person he loves, because he loves him that much. He's finally come to the sort of realisation that although Magnus loves him (AND IT IS MORE THAN HE'S LOVED ANYONE!) he'll live on and meet new people. And he's finally okay with that, almost denying that it wouldn't be possible. And I don't believe Magnus could move on from this relationship, but it's kinda that "reality" thing. *Alec is basically saying that he'd make sure Magnus has the chance to have other relationships after him and it breaks my heart!*

I don't think many have understood that Magnus is only partially immortal. He doesn't age, but someone can kill him (two warlock were killed in the series) or kill himself, as he once wanted to do. Their life story remained open.

The "I'm not the first person he's loved and I won't be the last" line CRUSHES ME. Because Alec truly beleives he's just another lover in the 17000 Magnus has had, but he doesn't get that Magnus is his One just as much as he is Magnus's One. These two have the most beautiful love in this show and seeing how hard they both fight for each other is so heartbreaking and amazing I will never be over these two. And I'm really glad to see a lot of other people never will as well 🥲🥲🥲

It’s funny because in the books Simon was the one who made the deal with Asmodeus for the demon to take away all his memories of the shadowhunter world in order to save Izzy from the gates of hell. But in the end they ended up together anyway because he couldn’t completely forget everything and still had traces of his memories so I hope they do something like that with Magnus and Alec here

Honestly the worst part about Malec is that they both can't just be immortals! They deserve it after all they've been through. They should get to be together forever and never die. Magnus shouldn't even want another lover after Alec, he's already been through 17000 relationships and Alec is his first real true love there's no topping that and even if he could find someone else Alec deserves better than just being a memory in his little box especially since he's willing to do anything to get him his magic back it shows he's not selfish!! They should have found a way for them to both be immortals if not on the show than at least in the books at some point. Truthfully they're the only couple on the show that feels like real love they are the best ship!

Shadowhunters love only once, according to the book... But Jocelyn and Maryse already proved that wrong, so maybe it would have been possible for Alec too? That said, the lengths they’re -especially Malec and parabatais Jalec- willing to go for each other and the look in Alex’s eyes when Izzy asked him that tells us he would not. He was miserable when they broke up in season two, and now that Malec got even closer, a new permanent breakup might distract Alec enough to get him killed, even if he doesn’t do it on purpose like Jace tried at the beginning of 3B, when Alec was putting out fires everywhere (Izzy, Jace, and Magnus). I love it when she asks him that, and the silence that follows is so gut-wrenching...

possibly the only person thinking about this, but unrelated to the breakup, anyone think Magnus will become a donor? The no demon fighting world only has him as magic bloodline, if both worlds are connected, then a child born in one will be in another. So save other world magic. Magnus a father?
