When I saw Jonathan's face as he shouted Clary's name when izzy was about to inject him, he was literally begging her with his life. I feel that he just wants to be loved by his family, and Clary is his only family left. Poor Jonathan😢

[Spoiler] there is a scene in the end of city of heavenly fire where Jonathan's demonic side is wiped for a few minutes. And it's how he would have been if Valentine didn't experiment on him. It was quite heartbreaking

Yea, what Gabriela said is true! It's the fact that over the years so much demonic energy/power has been soaked into him mind, body & soul. Along with the more conscious horrible decisions he makes, which only fuels that fact he's a blatant evil person, there's not a lot of good left in him. His entire being is a demonic essence, except for like, 0.001% . So in the books when his demonic side is killed, his human body, which was being fueled by demonic energy, can no longer survive because there's just not enough humanity to keep him alive. If you don't wanna read all the books, at least read the part we're talking about because its really heartbreaking & you get a clearer picture of what the real, pure Johnathan would have been like.

I think they should've injected the serum into clary. The particles in the serum spread out in Jonathan as they were trying to burn away his demon blood, therefore the particles didn't concentrate into one spot. If they had injected it into Clary the particles would not have dispersed but instead just concentrated onto where the rune was placed, meaning that all the energy in the serum would have effectively burned all the demon energy in the rune. That would then break the rune between Clary and Jonathan.

In the books is way worse, and they explain there that Sebastian really doesn´t understand how love is, so he doesn't truly know it. Like, he begins to "feel" something for Clary after she is drunk and asks ¿who do you belong to?" and he just gets obsessed and ends up concluding that he belongs with his sister, his own blood, in every sence of the way. It´s super twisted and creepy, but it´s because he doesn't feel like everybody else and tries to mirror their emotions in the best way he can think off. In the last book, he goes to say something like "i want you to look at what I achieve and keep you trapped here so no one can hurt you, that is what you do hen you love ¿right?", something like that.

I've never seen the show, but I did read all of the books more than once, and I can't help but notice that it's like instead of creating an evil bond between Jonathan and Jace they did it with Clary and Jonathan. Is it like that? I am very confused. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm not an English native speaker.

I came here because I miss shadow hunters and the ending just hit too hard to me and don’t get me wrong I like Alec he’s my third favourite character 1 is clary 2 is Jace 3 is Alec 4 is Izzy but when watching the series again after a year I see how no one really cares for clary I mean when Jace threw her literally of a building temporarily paragliding her Simon was there but if it was Izzy or Alec then everyone would be sat outside the infirmary crying and worried waiting and have a big happy reunion and it’s the same like someone said “I love how Alec is so brotherly and nice to clary it’s cute” no one remeber how he stood in front of her and said she was stupid and wasn’t a shadow hunter and since she came everyone’s lives were ruined just had to say that

Jonathan is evil... he doesnt love Clary, he wants to control her. He only cares about himself. When the heavenly fire is used on him it burns away all the demon blood in him... he dies because there is not enough human in him to survive. He is a monster of Valentines creation.

Love the cast for this show and their acting is spot on. Too bad they couldnt stick to the real actual book plot and stuck to the true identities of these characters
