Shadowkiller and Ancient Empire share several members (not all the same ones) from Hellhound, a band formed in 1981 according to the Encyclopaedia Metallum. Everybody change partners.

Saddens me to know how truthful the above statement is. Allowed to have its own voice bass adds a ton of richness and nuance. Many of these newer bands seriously need to go back and listen to old Rush and Maiden to know just what creative and solid bass playing can bring to the table.

Cirith Ungol bass is very audible plus the lines hold there own without just mimicking the guitars. Definitely check out a few albums to hear a good bass mix.

I purchased this cd as well as Shadow Killer's previous cd, Until the War is Won. Both cds are killer albums and I highly recommend purchasing their music for any collection. NWOTHM thanks for the recommendation.

+Papa Joe Thank you for doing so if these bands are not supported its our loss. I purchased a Indian metal band Against Evil cd and a t shirt but a warning still waiting almost 2 months now. I live in Toronto Canada, any bands I should check out, I am eagerly awaiting Silent Civilians 3rd cd coming out shortly amazing American band. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't verified this yet but I heard that the guitarist for Shadowkiller is the same guitarist for Ancient Empire. I haven't been able to find any AE cds yet and have only listened to their music via KZfaq. I don't know why these bands are not as well known as other groups but they should be. Thanks for the Against Evil and Silent Civilians recommendations. I'll definitely give them a listen.

No I'm sorry I haven't been able to locate that cd. I try not to order from outside of North America because it takes months for the items to arrive.

Papa Joe you can get all the Ancient Empire CDs as well as Shadowkiller CDs from the bands themselves. Basically all the same members in both bands at this point. (long story)

Man I wish bands like this would use more old school recording tech. I know it's not always available. But it makes it even more gritty. Still, this is awesome.

Back on the day, bands tried to sound as good as possible with bad technology. Taking modern technology and not aiming for the best, but instead aiming for the flaws old tech had, will only make u sound worse

This sounds good in my truck. Little on the high end but my deck is kind of weird with the EQ. Not a huge fan, I don’t have enough control. Their 2020 album actually sounds better for me.

Rocked out to this while doing the dishes! I really like the heavy bass line and melodic riffs. Not as heavy as I normally go, but nice and mello. The vocals remind me of Blackie Lawless from Wasp.
