Description: On the surface Bogenhafen is just another bustling market town; the annual fair and market of the Schaffenfest is in full swing, and the adventurers are among many others flocking to the town.
But all is not as it seems. From the happy bustle of the fair, the adventurers find themselves drawn into a deadly web of intrigue, uncovering evidence of a sinister secret organization whose tentacles run through the highest levels of the town's society.
They must tread carefully, sorting the guilty from the innocent, the misguided and the deceived, able to trust no one in a deadly game of hide-and-seek where nothing and no one is quite as it appears.Can the adventurers save Bogenhafen? Can they save themselves from the misguided zeal of the authorities? And can they reach the heart of the canker before it is too late?
All the time, the society and its pawns are watching, trying to misdirect and thwart the adventurers, trying to buy time - for the consummation of its evil plan draws ever closer.
Shadows Over Bogenhafen is the first major adventure for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, intended for beginning-level characters. It continues The Enemy Within campaign, and can also be used as an adventure in its own right.

As with the earlier Satanic Panic, the entire purpose of this is to point at what's new and different, so not familiar to them and say it's wrong. The scares over video games and pokemon, are all just a mindset of, fear the strange. They have no interest in actually learning, hence their misrepresentation of facts when they have them in front of them.

This was a nice trip down memory lane. I much prefer the grim and gritty world of Warhammer where players play real people, not that much different than any other basic NPC. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is D&D where players are basically super-heroes once they gain a few levels and become fully equipped in magic items that are commonly available everywhere in most campaigns.

I think it's the style of the adventures that make it along with the Career system. The fact that you start searching through the sewers for escaped Goblins as a Ratcatcher, and become a Lord saving the Empire. It covers the entirety of the Heroes Journey, from humble beginnings onwards that other RPG's don't manage.

The best module what I've read and played during the ages... In October we are revoke the memories of the SoB with the new limited edition WFRB 4th edition. We've been playing with the WFRPG 4th for two years and I have to say that's an amazing re-release of the original 1st ed.

I've heard good things about 4th edition, and will have to check it out. I know they're republishing Enemy Within for it, but am wondering if Empire in Ruins gets it right where Empire in Flames failed (and Empire in Chaos just never got published).

There's a number of things I repeatedly put into polls as I really think they deserve to be covered and would be really interesting, but somehow they never win. But I only have a finite collection, so eventually . . .

I don't have the more recent version, so sadly can't compare. I've heard that it hasn't changed much (and some people expected it to have fixed some of the slight problems with the adventure), so I think it's probably just a matter of which rules you're using and which book you can get ahold of.

It’s pronounced more as a buhgenhafen

Ahhh, that's where they made a crucial mistake, by spelling it Bogenhafen. I can barely pronounce words which make sense when spelled out, so if they expected me to be able to make sense of accented characters they were sadly mistaken.

@@RPGGamer The empire is a bit Germanic, especially with the names. But yes it is a bit annoying if you don’t know German accents, but personally I think it’s cool how everything is a bit German
