Shaedon Sharpe Scouting Report | 2022 NBA Draft Breakdowns

Shaedon Sharpe is one of the biggest mysteries of the 2022 NBA Draft. A 6'5 scorer with a nearly 7 foot wingspan and unlimited bounce, Sharpe has piqued interest of many in the lottery despite never playing a game at Kentucky.
There's a lot of risk in taking someone coming from a situation like this. I think we see some hesitancy from GM's, because of the unknowns, as well as maybe not having the patience or developmental structure to help him. I wouldn't rule out a bit of a fall for those reasons but he's definitely talented.

Been watching since your channel was under 10K subs, & I just want to say I’m so happy & proud of the rhythm + confidence that you’ve found in these videos. There’s a very niche community of channels that basketball junkies & hoop heads like myself go to for basketball in its purest form, I hope that you know that you channel is one of them. All love cuzzo, and I can’t wait to continue watching you and your channel rise !!

Good breakdown. The 1st thing I noticed in watching this vid was how he needs to improve his handle. You then covered this in improvement areas. Sharpe looks like a fine NBA prospect. In 2 or 3 yrs he can be the best in his draft class.

Bro your content is always a must watch. I would defiantly spend a lottery selection on Shandon but there is some other wings I would pick before him. He has a very ceiling though if he goes to the right place. Would love to see him land somewhere with an established defensive gameplan

I know you said you would love to see him somewhere with an established defensive game plan Buh how you feel about him going to the pistons? Him and Cade can develop together their defense will come along and that backcourt can be scary offensively and they can be solid to good serviceable defenders
@a.rad_music
@a.rad_music 2 жыл бұрын
@@7bloxkbandoe356 i think Dwayne Casey would be one of the better coach fits for him. Cade and the rest of that young core would be fun to watch paired with Shaedon. I personally would rather see the pistons get Ivey if he's there or trade down to pick 7 -10 and pick up Dyson Daniel's to add another player who can run an offense at a high level. I think cade is of the Paul George type where he can be your no 1 option but works best when another player can run the offense. Cade showed great feel for secondary passing like Larry bird or jokic(when he has jamal) so I'd want them to get a guard.
@7bloxkbandoe356
@7bloxkbandoe356 2 жыл бұрын
@@a.rad_music I agree with the dyson daniels pick as well Buh I’m a Knicks fan and I want him to fall to us lol Buh Ivey and Cade would be electrifying to watch Buh nun are really true playmakers Buh if they was to select dyson that would be amazing cause Cade wouldn’t have to worry about being a playmaker a solid defender and a scorer.

@@7bloxkbandoe356 I'm a timberwolves fan myself. But Daniel's next to Barrett would be so fire to watch. I think you guys should fire thibs and get a guy like Kenny Atkinson to really bring that young core to the next level. He reminds of guys like Gerald Green, Ben McLemore, and Malik Monk. Guys who could jump out of the gym and shoot well, but who maybe didn't have the best overall games and ball handling abilities to put it all together. Jason Richardson and Jaylen Brown came to the NBA as a similar type of prospect though and turned into solid all-star caliber players. So maybe that's his range as a player. He's worth taking in the 5-10 range, but I don't think he has as high a floor as Holmgren, Smith, Banchero, or Ivey.

Yeah but those guys don’t have 7 foot wing spans. I totally get the preface of your argument but with time, he has the frame to legit be a great defender and creator on offense. A 6’5 dude with a 7 foot wing span who can hit tough shots is a dude who can break defenses. So much risk with him but his tools and existing skill to me give him a floor even higher than those guys, and all 3 have at one point but a solid nba player. Edit: did not realize Gerald green did have a 6’10 wing span lmao but I still feel confident shaedon is more of a creator than a guy like that but the comp is valid as his floor

I'm there too. Shades of Buddy Hield for me but with more bounce and less consistent shot. Which is a good base to have as a 19 years old instead of a 25 year old college senior. I just can't grasp what his half court role would be, if he can't slash or get all the way to the cup, that drops his ceiling for me a by a good bit. He's going to need to play off someone else to get him good looks, Klay type but not a true sniper. And who knows if he can be an average level nba defender.

I really appreciate your eye. I'm glad you called him explosive and not just the typical great athlete label. I'm not saying he's not a great athlete, but comparing him to someone like Ant they're close in size and vertical leap but Ant looks much faster. First step is very important in basketball. Most people wouldn't have Harden as a great athlete but at his size with the first step he had, it helps tremendously. Maybe Sharpe is faster than he showed in high school but just because you got lift to me doesn't automatically put you in the great athlete club.

The offense is AE-esque. Solid level shot creater and a positive scorer from all three levels. That on-ball/off-ball defense is not good though and the handles could be better. His placement is dependent on the right development situation so for his sake joining the Pistons, Thunder or Spurs could really help his career

Hot Take: 5 stars that are projected to get drafted shouldn’t even play in college or pro for their gap year. They should do what Kyree Walker did and just train with an independent group for the draft. It’ll save their stock. The only reason that it didn’t work for Kyree was because he was like a 4 star when he decided to do it.

We didn't see Kobe Bryant play against College level competition, but he was sure killing everybody in High School, just like Shaedon is doing here, so we shouldn't hold that against Shaedon, or Kobe, and to be honest, Shaedon looks just as impressive as Kobe's High School tape. Sharpe's offensive skills are off the chart, plus he can shoot the lights out, from deep range. His athleticism and shooting with be the perfect compliment to Fox in Sacramento, talk about an exciting back court that would be, as much as i like Ivey, Sacramento needs a pure 2 guard/wing, with size and length, to start next to Fox, and i usually would take best player available, but Sharpe and Fox are neck and neck with me for best player, but Sharpe definitely is best fit, so is Keegan Murray, if we don't take a guard, and my sleeper, who i have a sneaky suspicion might end up being the best guard in this draft, is Ben Mathurin, he's basically a safer Sharpe, with maybe not as high of a ceiling.

Keegan Murray better in every stat except assists (including efficiency numbers) when Keegan is playing against college guys, any top prospect should be absolutely eating people up in high school, especially coming out of a small market.

@@terrancewoods3463 best fit and they want to compete they could also trade the pick tough, which I think would be a mistake cause Murray has a low ceiling but he's going to be a very good contributor from day 1

Could be Paul George, but also could be Malik Monk, only time will tell. Very interesting prospect, but dont think I would take him any higher than 5. That seems the earliest option for me, I believe Ivey is the better and safer option as of right now.

monk 6.2 foot 6.3 wingspan , sharpe 6.6 wingspan 7 . Sharpe is a lot more gifted physically

Anyone who rolls the dice with this kid is going boom or bust. I view him the way I view Patrick Baldwin Jr. He was projected as top 5 before college, but look how that turned. Difference is Sharpe hasn't been "exposed" at that same level like PBJr. He's finessed his way into the lottery without even taking a shot, and his agent is whispering to him don't blow it by showing yourself. Not worth the top 10 risk.

I remember when Lavar Ball made ridiculous comments to hype Lonzo Ball up. as it happens, the Lakers took him at 2, giving up Jayson Tatum. this dude's social media is Lavar Ball level, but it seems that without the benefit of actually having a player like Lonzo (great, intelligent passer). it really sounds like a bust to me

If im Orlando im using the first pick on this kid or the kid from Purdue. Centers are not really worth the top pick like that anymore. Fultz, Anthony, and Suggs don’t look like they will be elite guards in the league. Wagner and Carter are the only proven building blocks that they have. Im sure they want Isaac to be in that group if he can stay healthy; they might as well give him the opportunity to prove himself. Need to keep adding to the backcourt until they hit on a franchise player.
