Unfortunately Bangladesh has been in the grip of Bloodshed. In 1975, August 15,army officers killed Mujeeb and 18 members of his family! It was terrible, brutal crime. Army may have anger against Mujeeb ,but why women and children were killed. Once bloodshed starts, there is revenge ---- and then counter-revenge. A vicuous circle of bloodshed starts. So tragic is this. With so much difficulty, Bangladesh achieved independence from Pakistan. But then Bangladesh descended to horrible political bloodshed. The after effects of this bloodshed are still there.

And on the basis of service since pakistan military, many high ranking officers like zia were more assertive, had strong support base in the military... Almost all senior and mid tier officers knew what was going to happen... Things were actually quite bitter between AL, rokkhi bahini and Military. And by the time shafiullah knew about all these, it was too late....even him issuing direct orders wouldnt save the president. There's chain of command in the military, u cant just issue order to anyone without proper channel.... And since other officers knew and didnt stop them in the beginning, would they actually take in fruitful steps after receiving orders? They could just delay their assemble after receiving order.things are not as simple as we think.

When someone becomes so power hungry, that he is no more answerable to anyone, any word comes out from his mouth becomes a law, he can sack elected representatives just because they are not good in touching his feet. When all opposition is banned, when all criticism is illegal and newspapers are banned, and only one party is legal and you being the leader can decide who can join or who cannot, then 15 Aug 1975 events are natural and expected, you cannot complain or blame anyone.
