It's not illegal to smoke in Germany. Another German vlogger has an American wife and she was fascinated by the vending machines in Germany which sell cartons of cigarettes on the street. It looks like in the U.S. smoking is banned outside within a certain distance of an entrance or at a restaurant's outdoor tables in most states. She was annoyed that smoking at a restaurant's outdoor tables is quite common in Germany. She complained that a smoker can sit at a table next to you and start puffing away and it ruins your enjoyment of your meal as the smoke drifts toward you.
