I like the overall design but that water piping on electrical side giving me some jitters. Water... Pressurized.. no matter how the joints are connected.. will always leak when you least expected. Removal of the batteries for replacement will be a little cumbersome with that water pipe lines above.

Great design! Couple suggested tweaks: simplify water distribution lines/connections at water tank area, improve maintenance access to water heater, redirect water lines away from above batteries, make "dog leash" storage box garage easily removable to increase rear van carrying flexibility (bikes/kayaks etc.), relocate shower rearward, replace with dual seat (w seat belts), add overhead shelf above front seats, add insulated/heated grey water tank (4 season, many sites require contained waste water), use Ford Transit AWD 3.5 litre EcoBoost platform. That would be near perfect for me. 😉👍 Indeed, you've created a very intelligent and well thought out van! Well done!

You are THE MAN. I can't believe you didn't lose your voice after all that explaining. Lots of great information here and it's obvious you guys have really thought things out. It's impressive and inspiring. One question though: don't you get a lot of voltage drop on the cable from the alternator all the way back to your DC-DC charger? That seems like a long run (even with what looks like 00 welding cable which has to be pricey for that length...)

Some points on the grey water. 1. It drains to the ground so no tank smell. 2. He said it’s your option to install a tank. 3. A screen is a good idea, but one that lets food particles get through. 4. You can not drain grey water onto the ground legally in Canada, and certain national parks in the USA ban it, so figuring out a drain tank in the design is a good idea.

You know, they make little plastic screw tips caps that you can actually snap on into the screw drive head so you don't see any of those screws. Very cheap nice looking fix. Notice lots of roughly cut edges, on wood trim, and a little messy caulking in that shower. You have great ideas, but I think a little more attention to detail is crucial if you want more jobs. The goal is to make everything look FACTORY MADE. KEEP UP THE WORK, YOU WILL GET THERE.

Beautiful build, please support those water lines in the electrical area. My god... so much work and money in that area. PEX is great but you are really throwing the dice with the lengths of pipe and those 90 degree AP adapters with any vibration that happens. They are not designed to an automotive grade on there own like that. Over time your hot water line will sag and that Adapter will fail, your pump will click on and off very slowly "hopefully not when you sleeping!" humidity will rise, fuses will blow. Easy add on to secure it though, just build some supportive framing for the water lines, secure them every 8 inches along the frame, use some sort of vibration dampener "water line insulation foam" especially around the joints, good to go!

I agree with everything EXCEPT running these types of water pipes and connections over an electrical system. That is a really big deal. But could be fixed in this case by putting that section of pipes inside an enclosure so leaks would then go either side of the cupboard that contains the electrics. As electrics are often the most expensive part of a build, the repercussions could cost well into the thousands for a poorly designed pipe route. I think criticism of this aspect is very valid and a good learning point for future builds. But it is a beautiful build - especially loved that shower.

@@shaidenvalentine1 This is a beautiful conversion but if you didn't want feedback, why allow comments? This is how you-tube works. And I think those you criticized the running of water pipes over an electrical system without running through an additional enclosure have a VERY VALID point which your can fix (because yes many people would consider this a flaw, not just a different design opinion like most issues mentioned here) and so that more thoughtful design happens regarding water/electrics situational design is something you can improve on in the future. But it is a very beautiful and generally well thought out van and something to be proud of.

IS the water from your AC system actually feeding back into your drinking/shower/dishwater system? Seems like it could have stagnant water sitting is what we used to call swamp coolers back in the day, going back into your "clean' water. I also agree about a locked door or system for your water access--sad that we can no longer trust people not to mess with stuff anymore. Thoughts like this never crossed our minds when camping in unlocked tents and campsites in the pre-90s!! Now you have to think about how people can mess with your safety and belongings anymore just for sport and their entertainment!!

Nice build, going with the MDF "Ikea" style cabinets saves construction time at the sacrifice of weight and strength. Particle board doesn't like a lot of movement so hopefully the owner stays on pavement. I like a van with a dedicated shower and toilet. Plumbing and electrical are two of the most complex pieces of a van conversion. Having a water leak in the electrical box would be a disaster, I would have liked to see them separated. Looks very tough to remove plumbing components if any fail. I like the easy clean toe kicks. I agree with what has been said about the evaporative cooler. Moisture is the enemy of van conversions. I am in the process of building my van and noticed that a lot van builders do not lock their water on the exterior. In this build the water fill is on the outside with no locks then he goes to the inside of the rear and a key lock for a shower . They put a lot of money in high tech gear but will not lock their life source WATER. I owned a travel trailer with no locks on the water fill, long story short someone contaminated my water with dirt and rocks. I had mud coming out of the spigot cost me a few dollars to remove and clean the tank. Hence I would never have my water fill on the outside. I have opted to use 8 jerry cans 5 gallon each 40 gallons total. This keeps my water fresher and I can fill them easily, between fills add a couple of drops of bleach to disinfect my cans. I saw this set up on a van builder video it makes sense to protect your water.

I think a Murphy bed is great..but i wonder if it's worth losing the "garage"? That's why i haven't looked into them much...my hubby travels with all tools possible, plus outdoor bulky equipment we have, and without a garage it seems too crunched. Thoughts? ( also will watch the vids recommended by all here). We have an 81 westfalia but thinking of upgrading for a 6mo- 1year van life. Edit- forgot to finish my own comment🙄. Re:westfalia, definitely want a fixed bed of some kind- i strongly believe if we are upsizing i am *not* making a bed up everyday lol

Great video! The water and pipes was kinda confusing, but you went over everything leaving nothing untouched which is great, I got lost when you talked about the gravity fed and the water fill was! I just thought you use a water hose and fill! Of course I don't know much but this is actually the best build I have ever seen! Love the shower! You put alot of work into this build and it's shows❤️

Beautiful neat clean job. Only thing I don’t like is shark bite fittings as they fail in freezes. I use the copper clamps. Cheaper too.

@@Maya-xg6wh fresair is not a traditional air conditioner..its a air cooler that cant handle real hot or humid temps...depending on where you live I wouldn't consider it...personally it's a waste of time

awesome. this is the best design, beats the bed in the ceiling. every smart and hiper functional, i wonder if the ac type is made to catch water when it rains and purifies it? this was an amazing build, everything needed and tons of storage. light and bright. really impressed, i just watch a bunch of videos, but this design stands out. the lounge is a really great. until the bed is needed. i did think the windows could be shorter so the bottom of it could have the i think flares, to give extra space, kind of extend the foot and headroom pass the 6ft. love the screen for everything.

Nice van, but i have the same comment about the video as i had last time. I lack the overview of the van before you go into the details. It’s hard not to get bored watching you explain your heater control in the corner without having first gotten a good idea on the van. You would not want to start a video with a tire shot and then move to the door handle on the outside would you? You show the entire van...So we need to get a feel for the van before we can get interested in the details...especially since it is a nice van... :)

So many cookie cutter vans out there, you are a few levels above everything else I have seen. This is awesome. I would love to see an all wheel drive van, either a sprinter or Ford Transit with the eco boost. Wife and I want all wheel drive, light off road, nothing too crazy. We like the 144 as it can fit in a regular parking space but still don't know if a 177 would be to big or the best choice for us. I would need more storage for supplies in the back of the van, maybe clear the roof of solar and run the recharge off the alternator, leaving the roof for some storage boxes. We wouldn't be sitting in one place more than a day so with your solar capacity we would have enough power for a few days and would be driving again. Wife and I are looking at the Storyteller Beast but I think you could come up with something even better. We are down the street in San Marcos, when we are ready I will reach out. Very impressive all around...

With the evaporative unit, have you heard of any mold issues with the pine filter sitting in water? I am very allergic to mold, so I'm curious. Thanks, and wonderful build!

Evaporative coolers are GREAT in DRY heat.... but DO NOT work in humid climates or when it rains. I know.... I live in a desert state where most homes have evaporative coolers, but during monsoon season... they are useless!

Yep. I grew up with an evaporator cooler in a moderately humid area, and it was miserable. But they’re ice cold in dry heat.
