Bro, you're 76 and enjoyed all the good music of the past, so did I (I'm 62). And loving it all the way. Shakatak was one my favs, but frankly I forgot about them and this is first time I am actually seeing their live concert. What a treat!!

Shakatak is one of the groups I wish I’d seen live back in the day. Others such as Supertramp and Al Jarreau too.
I could listen to them all day long, nothing but good memories!

Jazz is my favorite 😍 that makes my Working hours sooo Fast !! Bellissimo ...magnificus...thanks to the Jazz players. Happy Easter 🐣 2024 March 31st Vegas🎉❤USA.
Just stumbled across this and had a MAJOR flashback: this melody would play when you pushed the 'Demo' button on my Casio keyboard (I got it when I was 6 years old)
Shakatak still rocks! I love the sound of the Yamaha CP70 keyboard. This makes this song unique.

It is amazing how professional musicians can pull a show like this as realistic as listening to the original recording back in 1980’s

I first met with Shakatak music on 1983 when the musician band we contracted for our wedding party in Mexico used to play exclusively songs from Shakatak, a very good remembering ❤️ I later bought the fantastic "Ultimate Collection" triple CD 👍

Shakatak managed to break into the music charts, including two Top Ten hits on the British Singles charts, with "Night Birds" (1982) and "Down on the Street" (1984). The group remains popular in Japan and the Far East, and typically produces a new album each year. Since their first release in August 1980, with the Bill Sharpe composition "Steppin" on the Polydor record label and their first album Drivin' Hard, the band's singles and albums have entered the charts quite regularly. It was the release of "Easier Said Than Done" that was to give her the radio airplay necessary for her first Top 20 hit. This recording introduced her instrumental unison vocal sound to a much wider audience and the track remained on the British charts for seventeen weeks. The follow-up, "Night Birds", was his first single to reach the Top Ten, and the album of the same name gave Shakatak his first gold record, entering at number four and staying on the charts for twenty-eight weeks. Internationally, the success of the release gave them number one in Japan and attracted interest from Europe and South America. While all the recording activity was happening, the band went on an extensive tour in 1982, performing a total of 132 concerts in one year. The band played live throughout the UK, Europe and Japan. Two more albums - Invitations and Out of This World - were recorded in 1982 and 1983, resulting in several more chart hits, and paving the way for the next big breakthrough in the band's career. With a subtle change in musical direction, however, still maintaining the band's identity, Jill Saward (formerly of Fusion Orchestra, Brandy and Citizen Gang) became their vocalist to make Shakatak's fifth studio album, Down on the Street. The resulting singles released "Down on the Street" and "Watching You" met with some success and attracted attention in new parts of the world. The following year saw the release of the group's first live album, which was recorded in Tokyo and London. The seventh album, Day by Day, saw the development of songwriting by all members of the band. In 1986 Saward announced that she was expecting a baby later that year. This news gave the band an excuse to pause their hectic touring schedule for a while and focus exclusively on recording. The band was in the Top Five in Japan, and after winning the coveted Silver award at the Tokyo International Song Festival, Shakatak were asked to produce an extra album each year exclusively for the Japanese market. At that time they had two bonus albums titled "Into the Blue" and "Golden Wings." Both sold reasonably well, with the latter winning "Best Instrumental Album of 1987" at the Japan Phonographic Recording Association Awards. However, after this success the band felt it was time to redirect their efforts to return to the Singles and release an album for the rest of the world. The result was Something Special, closely followed by the nightclub hit "Mr Manic & Sister Cool" from their next album, Manic and Cool. In the 1990s, the band had great success in the United States when they had two albums that were at No. 1 on the contemporary jazz charts and also won the Japanese Grammy for Best International Instrumental Album for six consecutive years. Since 2000, the band continues to record and tour the world. In January 2010 the group's keyboardist Bill Sharpe was interviewed by Mike Howard on the funk jazz internet radio station Vinyl Morpher Radio. Singer Jill Saward currently owns a property in Sardinia and travels between her home and the UK on a regular basis. In 2009 musician George Anderson released his solo album 'Positivity'. In 2011 they would release the LP "Across The World", with new songs, and released worldwide. The band is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary with concerts around the world.

I was a professional Disc Jockey from 1974 to New Years Eve 1989, finishing at 0300 on Jan 1st 1990. I still think that the 1980s, in particular, were the very best times for Soul and Disco.
