'Shaken, let down and worried': Holly Willoughby addresses Phillip Schofield's ITV exit

Schofield resigned and later admitted that he had an affair with a younger colleague while presenting the show, but denied grooming him, in an interview with the BBC. Willoughby began by sharing her concern for viewers' wellbeing and all of those involved in the scandal. She then went on to say 'it was a lot to process' and felt she had a 'lot of questions' after giving 'our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth', in reference to Schofield's denial about the affair.

What we are witnessing here is the art of self-preservation, performed by a single minded, ambitious and determined career woman, behind the facade of a touchy-feely warm and smiley, caring & sharing public persona. This should be a training video for anyone with ambition facing a career threatening crisis, who needs to make the right impression.

I would have thought more of her had she shown some compassion and kindness, towards the victims,ie, the lover, Phils mother, wife and daughters.That silly smile ,false of course, said everything about this ambitious, false, ice cold woman. It was all about her, money, and her career.

Phil wasn't so strange when she needed him, turned a blind eye to his behavior and protected him via the whole "coming out" smokescreen. Now her own brand is established and getting damaged, Phil is no longer needed.

Pathetic. I'm so sick of this being in the news and there was absolutely no requirement for her to make a statement on This Morning. ITV need to do a reshuffle as a lot of viewers are sick of Holly Willoughby. Such a cringe worthy view this morning and so disingenuous. Throwing her beloved Phil under the bus.

Total insincere rubbish. She made sure the public got the clear message that she was lied to. Daw! She spent the most time with him and saw what was going on, no matter what he told her. It suited her to believe it, as she was forced to ask that question. Now she can wash her hands off it. Job done,...as I've done my best but got lied to. Presenters can look a camera straight its eye and put on a performance under pressure without batting an eyelid. That's their job. He's made her sign a sort of agreement not to be open about what she knows of the situation. Notice that she never makes any mention in this autocue statement of the fact that in the coming months, more will be learned of the situation not yet in public knowledge. But she knows that is what is happening.
