Ustad Raza Ali Khan was born to the Hindustani classical vocalist Munawar Ali Khan, son of the legendary Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. He received his early training from his grandfather and thereafter from his father. Khan gave his first solo performance at the Youth Festival in 1977 at the Eden Garden Stadium at Calcutta. He is the present Khalifa of the Kasur Patiala Gharana.
Ustad Raza Ali Khan is among the few Indian Classical Vocalists who have successfully pioneered ventures in performing with Western Artistes. His associated acts include Western Jazz Musicians, Louis Banks and others. His Vocal jugalbandis with Sitar Maestro Shahid Parvez and Grammy Award winner Pt.Vishwa Mohan Bhatt created ripples among the present generation of music connoisseurs.
