Song Description: The Late Dr. Da Ra Bendre, (1896 - 1981, Jnanpeeth Awardee Writer-Poet, one of the most celebrated, pre-independence era poet of Karnataka), in one of his quirkiest poems, addresses one of the most frequent human dilemmas. To be perfect or is it ok to be flawed?
He sounds caution to a young man desiring a drink! But then he counter argues - so what if you make mistakes and lose the way, you may find a new and better destination!
A life lived making mistakes, is adventurous, rich in
learnings and more soul satisfying - and the best part - its makes for a great story. What is life, if it
does not make a good story!
“Have you started drinking?” he asks and then warns ‘Be careful! There is so much to do…be
careful” Making mistakes would means getting distracted off the path towards pre-determined
destination. But, half way through the song, Bendre argues, ‘Stop calling me immature….so what
if I make mistakes, so what if I lose my way? May be I could find a new path towards a new
destination which is far better than what I was earlier headed towards….!
It is only human to make mistakes. To embrace, accept our mistakes, helps us confront our demons, become better people and also find new destinations for our life’s journey which may be far better…at least your heart will always stay happy and yes, mistakes make life worth a story.
