What a classic movie....? The classic climax moments of this legend actor are not going to come back...... And the sad version of the song " Aye aasmman bata" sang by Mahendra Kapoor is really very soul touching where definitely your tears will roll out with the goosebumps .... And the background music of the trumpet composed by the the maestro Punchamda are the remarkable moments.... Overall Big B and Dilip sahab no doubts are the Master piece.. Hiw many of you agree...?

Raj Babbar was the first choice and selection for the role of Big B in this movie. But, I cannot imagine anyone else than Big B for the role of Vijay. What a movie with Amitabh Bachchan as a son Yusuf Khan.

@@suhailahmad7205I agree with you though Raj Babbar was also a very good choice. Raj Babbar worked with Dilip Sahab in a movie called Mazdoor but the film was not successful. Shaktidid not perform very well at the box office but whatever success it tasted was just because of Dilip Kumar and AB were a part of the cast.

Fun fact. Farz aur Kanoon, starring Jeetendra and Raj Kiran based on the same plot was released on the same year. Both were remakes of Thanka Pathakam. While Shakti was considered average, Farz aur Kanoon became superhit. But, Farz aur Kanoon is forgotten and Shakti is still remembered. Raj Kiran did the role that Amitabh Bachchan did in Shakti.

Jetendra was not a superstar but a star a very good actor liked by many including me and my family but he was nowhere near Amitabh bachchan and Dilip Kumar. Shakti was a reworking of Deewar, also written by Salim Javed. Ganga Jamuna is the movie with the plot these movies used. I always call the ending in these movies the "Mother India" ending.

That scene at 1.01:21 partiucalry makes me laugh every time I see it, the way he shakes the bag as if a toy and no weight at all. I wish they had given it a thought particularly aabout that scene, otherwise it is a very good movie. Can't control my laughter at that particular scene.

Great is always Great Dilip sahib performance is stunning.he won best actor filmfare award for this performance. Big B and Dilip kumar wrere canidate for best actor for this movie.I was child in 1991 when I saw this movie with my father I was studying in class six at that time.I remembered this movie until now and watching this movie again after 1991 but alone this time because my father passed in 2010😢.Great story of father son relation.Full of emotions..
