Are You Faking A Turn In Your Backswing - Lift Your Left Heel
When talking about shallowing the club, I hear a lot of people saying, "Just turn at it from the top". Whilst this advice might work for some people I think it's confusing others. In this video, I hope to explain what you need to do to shallow the golf club, so you can enjoy more power and consistency from your golf swing.

Been playing a 4-5 years now have always been flippy with my hands through impact, I generate a lot of speed with this (110mph on driver) but when I’m not on it that day it’s incredibly inconsistent with a two way miss, main miss is a bad hook - been practicing this drill coupled with your body release and I’m hitting it unbelievably well! Shot 4 over yesterday and handicap down to 9.3 first time in single figures 🙌. Your explanation is fantastic, very clear and concise for the amount of detail you get in, you are by far the best coach on KZfaq! Thanks Dan

Thanks, Dan, you explained that really well, even I could follow it. You teach similar techniques to GG, but he talks so quickly I usually get totally lost, however your explanations are much easier to follow.

Beautifully explained , simple to follow, difficult to execute. But that is the challenge of Golf. Thanks Dan you are one of the best.

Fantastic video Dan, is there an easier way to clear the hips, if you are tight in those areas, my right hip is always tight. Cheers Peter

Good vid this, something ive just been working on at the range. Question though, my downswing is very much "over the top" but with a fairly neutral path at impact (

Dan, I’m working on less forearm rotation of my lead arm (tendency to rotate clockwise too much). Can I use some clockwise forearm rotation of my lead arm to help shallow the club coming down given the reduced clockwise rotation going back? Thanks! 👍 P.S. My speed is good for an amateur

Dan if you have a strong grip at address then bow the wrist as well at the start of the downswing won’t this close the face even more or is this overcome by rotation?

Dan - where do you stand in relation to the so called tipping out of the club? Ie in downswing - the opposite move with hands from video, hands in club head out , so that hands can return to original position area ? Thanks

When you teach players, how much do you want the student to find the different positions P1,P2,P3 etc?

Hi Dan. Have you changed your view on how the left arm and shoulder work in the downswing. Before you seemed to emphasise the left shoulder clearing and consciously pulling the left arm down. Now you seem to advocate holding the arms up. Not a criticism just wondering if you had changed your view after getting more data? I believe Zach Johnson pulls his arms down (accurate) and the modern power hitters hold them up (sometimes not so accurate) regards

Obviously you are terribly knowledgable. I was having troubling with the way reasoning jumped around-all sound but I cannot say I know what I would do with all the information. If you could simplify it for people like me I think it would be more effective. For example, you rotate the club back and up-how do you make an easily repeatable swing if you squat and you are vertically lower at the waist than When you started. I see pros up on their toes just pass the ball. If you tend to fight an outside-in swing, how do you not dig a 3 foot long ditch when you squat? Thanks for the videos!

@@davidrush1425 - If you're digging trenches with the *squat drill,* you're probably not lagging the club enough through impact. I had a rough time working it in myself, but trust me - it's the missing ingredient most golfers never attain. If you feel you're coming over the top too much, put a towel or glove under that lead arm. Justin Rose had a good tip about feeling your arm brushing down your shirt (torso) to keep it feeling connected on the downswing. And work on the lead wrist supination as Dan's shown here. Half punch shots at first, then step it up to full swings.

how do you deliver from there dan, thanks

The key is just dropping the club from the top. Letting gravity do the work. Don't move your arms, just let centrifugal motion do what its supposed to do. The problem with golfers is they're constantly trying to force themselves into certain positions. Literally do nothing. Just let gravity and rotational forces do the work. The hard part is applying those forces with your body, not your arms, constantly and creating good turf interaction.

@edwardsroba

I think the point with a lot of these things is that they are majorly over exaggerated during the drills, and that gives you a feeling. In reality during the swing, the actual movement lasts for a microsecond. This is particularly true of allowing the club to fall behind you with gravity. With the naked eye, you wont see it. That being said, just watch Rory if you want to see how to squat properly :)

why does it take you so many words to say "from the top sit and turn with the left side of the hips lower" whats the need for all the complication???
@RS-do1of
@RS-do1of 4 жыл бұрын
There’s no complication imho. Just a nice multi-factorial explanation showing hand and body action. Oh, and it’s free. This is a professionally qualified golf pro giving you a free lesson. If you went to see him and he just said what you summarise, would you walk away feeling like you got your value for money?
