In a Jewish understanding of Shalom, If, you have everything but not Shalom you don’t have anything.
SHALOM IS THE RECEPTICAL FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS:
Look at the miracle of “turning the water into wine.” If there wasn’t the stone pots to put the water into, there would have not been a miracle.
In this Biblical year 5784 God is wanting to create in you a receptacle of SHALOM so that you can carry His Blessings.
Watch This:
Fear, Anxiety, and Doubt puts cracks in the vessel/receptacle that God wants to create in us to carry His Presence. John 14:27, 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Shalom of the world is always temporary and absent of conflict!
Shalom in Hebrew is: “the fusion of spiritual and physical wellbeing and blessing. Shalom means to be “whole”
The opposite of being Shalom is one being fragmented. The pieces of the puzzle of our life does not fit together. This Year of 5784, God wants to bring Shalom and Wholeness into our lives.
Everyone has Holes, pains, trauma, and loses in our lives. Places of emptiness in us.
DECREE THIS: Lord, heal my Holes and make me Holy!
DECREE THIS: The Rest of the Lord over my Home!
I. There are four levels of Shalom and Schlumet.
1. Spiritual/Vertical
2. Personnel/Inner Emotions
3. Physical/Realm of our body and material things
4. Relational/Relationships
So, Shalom is not the absence of Conflict but the Peace of Mind in the midst of the storm.
Examples: Jesus fast asleep during the storm on the sea of Galilee. Mark 4: 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace,[g] be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How[h] is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
When we have Jesus, the Prince of Peace is with us and Lives in us.
In Israel you greet someone, Shalom! As you are saying goodbye you say to a person, Shalom! That is the secret, the beginning and the end. Seeing God in the start and the connecting to the end. Alpha and Omega! The beginning and the end.
Until you are ready to say Shalom to your past ( 5783 and even the past seven years…you cannot say Shalom to the New Year 5784.)
In Hebrew Alphabet, Shalom/Peace is making peace with the opposites:
In Hebrew there are four letters to Shalom,
Shin=Fire
Lammed=to learn/good
Vov=Hook/connection
Mem=water (two variables of “mem”, tranquility and rough stormy seas)
You have to learn the connection in both seasons/opposites, the fire and the water.
“When you pass through the waters, I am with you.” Isaiah 43:2,
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
There is a Shalom that there has to be a price paid for it.
Jesus price was the cross: Our price is to take up His cross and follow Him. To have peace in the natural there has to be a SURRENDER!
Last thing: In Biblical Hebrew there is no word for “ownership” There is no preposition for “me” or “my”. It is to me from God. Therefore, God has it for me.
Look at Genesis 1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
The heart of this year is SHALOM (PEACE) AND SHLEIMUT (WHOLENESS)
Here is the spoiler alert……..We already have peace, because Peace as a person lives inside of us. It is not something on the outside we need to bring inside. We do not strive for peace or try to feel it; it rises up within us. Peace is the antidote to any anxiety, worry and fear; as is remembering that we are perfectly loved by God. (1 John 4:18)
