When Shane mentioned that if you look at a top down map of Vegas the turns look identical but they are anything but I audibly said thank you. I feel like that is one of the biggest things non-Nascar fans don't realize. People that come from circuit racing see all of our 1.5s and think they are identical but no, each oval races differently and each turn within an oval races differently, and then the track shifts throughout a race so the turn won't race the same on lap 100 as it did on lap 5. I wish Nascar could better convey that to fans

Check out a youtube video called 'This Is Bathurst' by Mark Larkham, one of the technical commentators we see during a telecast. It is something that has been missing in all of the other motorsport categories for decades. They try to push stories about personalities when we are car fans, we want to know about the cars, the tracks, the techniques and technologies. The drivers are secondary to us even though we have favourites.

I never thought much of Nascar...just going around in circles never interested me. SVG fan so naturally have to learn what nascar is about and can say it's a massive learning curve. The drafting techniques are an eye opener. Can say I've become a fan 👍

@@TakumiMarowana That has been really refreshing about SVGs interviews, they have all been about how the car behaves, almost nothing about how the other drivers are performing around him. I hope it becomes a full time trend across all interviews in all genres. Remember the good old days when Barry Sheene described what the 500 GP bike was doing, and what the rider would have been feeling and experiencing at that time, so us wannabe's could relate it to the time we ran over the cane toad and nearly got thrown off. lol.

TO who wrote the description text. If you understood motor racing in Australia (and New Zealand) You would have taken note of Shane van Gisbergen's three Bathurst 1000 wins. In his world the Bathurst 1000 wins hold a higher prestige than Championships. (kinda like winning the Daytona 500 being the Superbowl of NASCAR)

@dirtreynolds1456 If it is good enough to write and speak about the Daytona 500. It is good enough to include the Bathurst 1000 wins in Shane van Gisbergen's career statistics. I have news for you. The slogan 'The Great American Race' was named by Ken Squire after he visited Australia and had been to 'The Great Race' at Mount Panorama in Bathurst City, Australia. It's true. Check it out on KZfaq. There are videos of Ken Squire explaining this in his own voice. Number 2. The very first incar RACECam broadcasts were invented and trialled in Australia during the 1979 Bathurst 1000. Again Ken Squire saw this and went from Australia to the USA and told people that they need to have cameras inside the race cars. The first race cameras inside race cars in NASCAR were contracted from an Australian television company. While today the person behind the concept of the technology of the INcar race cameras in the USA and NASCAR. Is an Australian. Yeap, why worry about the Bathurst 1000, whose nickname was adapted and given to the Daytona 500. Along with Bathurst being the birthplace or all racecams inside every race car. There are videos on KZfaq to explain to you that l am telling the truth. Without the Bathurst 1000. NASCAR would still be in the Dark Ages

Nascar needs to have a good look at itself from OUTSIDE. SVG is the best from down under and the fans he has attracted reflects this. Nascar has always been very insulate and very BILLY BOB MERICUN and proud of its roots..and thats cool.. If you look at the fand SVG has brought to Nascar then the future is a driver from all parts of the world...bring the England Champ and the French Champ and Italy and Spain will want in. Future of Nascar is international drivers and world wide interest. Nascar to be bigger than F1 as soon as thy start signing the worlds best drivers.

I feel like it’s because most racing category’s are so ‘single file’ these days, people are paying more attention to NASCAR, as an Aussie we couldn’t be more behind Gizzy’s transition to NASCAR. The man has skills that that completely drove circles around most drivers at a time where most racers were single file.

Rugby League and Rugby Union are both popular in Australia/New Zealand and which is more popular varies from city to city. The biggest difference is in League every time the ball carrier is stopped, the defence has to reset - running (because play doesn't stop) 30 feet down field before they can get involved in the game again. Union also has more players (for the same size field). League tends to reward running speed and tactics, while Union rewards strength.
