I like Rick more for telling us about all his development, but Shane was the first character to show us a glimpse of how rotten and cruel the world of TWD is, great character

@@colliser9370 rick has 11 seasons worth of development adding the spin offs aswell shane was essential for everyones development it was rick who died on that field that day n came back as shane

Shane was a police officer at heart. He never got over having to kill Otis. Along with the stress, and being viewed as a mad man by the rest of the group, and basically being an outcast, it broke him down. He was a cop who just pretended to be attuned with how the world was.

He really did have to kill Otis because he knew if he died Otis would die to there was no way for either one of them to make it out both alive

Killing Otis definitely changed Shane, after that he no longer had any moral restraints.

Shane was such a strong character compared to most of the characters we see in TWD he was strong mentally and Physically but he did his job to show Rick what you have to do in the new world to keep Lori and Carl safe

Shane was a great character but he was broken and it made him feel like Lori and Carl were the only thing that cept him from insanity but when Rick came back and took Lori and Carl then he really lost him self

No thats not true it wasnt because he just wanted lori and carl any rational person would save them he just needed the right support instead of being manipulated by Lori people forget that shane already knew them way before anyone aside from rick shane was basically carls godfather at some point and rick probably wouldnt even have mind rick and shane have been together for over 2 decades and thats the longest any character has known rick for their bond,dynamics,depth and complexity is the best in the show
